Commercial Description:
This is an American Amber Ale. Cloudy from the yeast, this moderately rich ale is just bitter enough to balance the sweetness of the malt. Grain from Washington Island is used in this brew, but it is not the dominating malt.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grains, musty, earthy, and toasted nuts. Tastes of caramel, lighter earthiness, and grains. Thinner body.

On tap at the brewery on 8/9/08: Pours a transparent dark copper with a well-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty grainy malts with a touch of noble hops. Body starts fairly full with good toasty caramel notes and some semi-sweet maltiness before a drier, smooth finish. A pretty decent amber ale.

Light copper color with a moderate off white head. A few lines of lace. Scents of lightly toasted malt and hints of DMS, mostly in the whirled pea scent. LIght caramel malt flavors. Mild floral hops. Just another amber that I can try and reminds me that I am not an fan.

Dark amber colored body with a very lightly tinited tan white head. The aroma was peanut butter and soft caramel candy. The taste was bitter, over steeped tea along with some bad toffee. There was also a little bit of cherry sweetness. Capital needs to stick to lagers.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Riley’s World of Wines in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a medium sized white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some roasted nuts, toffee, and some grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, light toffee, and a touch of vanilla. Finish is semi-dry with a light caramel malt and vanilla aftertaste. Nothing fancy, just a solid light amber ale.

Bottled. Poured clear sunset orange with a short, rather long-lived off-white head. The aroma picked up soft toasted caramel notes with crisp leafy accents.. came across as a weak marzen. The flavor had the same toasted caramel notes surrounded by light grain sourness and some leafy bitterness.. short finish left nothing interesting. Lighter-bodied on the palate and watery at times.. OK balance, but uninspired feel overall.

Thanks to Skyview for giving up a bottle of this. Copper color with a medium head. Dusty hop aroma with some raw grains. Lots of toasted malt, biscut and caramel flavors. Floral hop finish. Quite a nice surprise.
