fidemaster (172), USA Oct 4, 2009 Decent, middle of the road stuff. Semi-sweet, light, malty flavor, balanced by a hint of hop bitterness. Nothing too interesting, but not bad. arkurzynski (89), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2009 Old standard for a crisp, clean lager. No surprises. Tasty and refreshing. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 14, 2009 Bottle - Man, I’ve had gallons of this stuff over the years, so I might as well rate it. Pours clear amber with a frothy white head. Smell is pleasant with toasted malt, a little fruitiness, and a touch of hops. The taste is hoppier than what I rememberd--not biting hops, but that bitterness is present in the middle and through the finish. The toastiness is there, along with a little nuttiness. It’s pleasant and actually a little less sessionable than I remember. LIke a lot of Capital beers, it’s syrupy, a little artificial feeling, and way too carbonated. Along with Leinie’s Honey Weiss, this was one of my gateway beers to better stuff. Good times. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2009 12oz bottle 7/31/09 (Sam’s Wine & Spirits-Downers Grove)-Pours a medium amber with a nice loose off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and sweetness. Taste of malt, caramel, and a nice hop finish. This light to medium bodied brew is very easy to drink and very well balanced. Nice job. beerwolf77 (42), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 28, 2009 I spent the last four days crushing can after can of this beer while camping so I might as well review it.
It pours a brownish red color with a nice amount of tan head. The smell is malty with hints of hops. The taste is very nice. Malty with a bit of caramel and nice hop bite on the finish. The beer is very tame in the mouth. It’s light and easy on the palate. I polished off a case of this in four days so if that’s not a vote for good drinkabilty then I don’t know what is.
fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jun 30, 2009 Pours medium amber with a 1-2 finger creamy beige head that has good retention. Aroma (pretty weak) is grain, caramel, planty hops, walnut skin and cheese. Flavor is caramel, mixed nuts, granola, light sweet malt notes and a little hay. Finish is dried grain a little sweet white bread and some planty hops. Palate is light body with a fluffy carbonation, a slick entry and slightly dry finish. Definitely a solid vienna, but nothing too interesting. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 26, 2009 12oz bottle. Filtered orange-amber color with minimal head. Odd, awkward amber-caramel aroma. Hmm..Id have to assume this is old. Off pungent amber malt, maybe some nutty flavor in there too. Somewhat like Killians, somewhat like a macro Oktoberfest. Off bottle. mcjay (301), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Apr 3, 2009 Light copper color with a light, foamy off white head. Sweet caramel aroma with a bit of hops. Mild malty body with a hint of caramel and a nutty but somewhat bitter finish.
