Orange golden body, bit of a chill haze, though not as hazy as the other capitals I’ve had. Off-white head is immediately dissipating to nothing. Aroma has lots of lightly sour yeast, bits of hard vienna malt and old bread. I wasnt as sold on this one as the others. A little bit meaty, quite sour/sweet, with too much breadiness, and light buttercream. Medium to medium-light body. Not a bad balance and a somewhat watery, though pleasing, drinkable mouthfeel. Moderate to low carbonation. I usually love all yeast flavors, perhaps it’s some acidic mash flavors that I don’t like? Not sure. Will have to try again. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Flavor is a very slight caramelly grassy hop thing. There isn’t a ton going on here, but it is very good and drinkable. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA

A good example of an amber ale. It was malty, with some carmel, sweet and kind of syrupy with a bitter finish. lizzy (44), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2005 Orangey non-foamy pour (after 30 secs). Malty malty mouth, with thickish palate (much like the Big Easy I just rated) that waits too long to offer lightening carbonation. Finish is yeasty with touch of honey and clover. Nice, with some session potential. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Capital Brewery’s Wisconsin Amber has the pleasant distinction of coming through with a tasty amber that is rich and full, not afraid of its bitterness, and you can tell the brewers are very confident with their recipe. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2005 On tap at the brewery. Amber color - true to its namesake. Sweet, crispness. Good hops on the back end, but a pretty even-going, mellow peer. Caramel and oak nodes. It’s easy to see why this is a popular daily drinker for some Wisconsinites. DrunkDad (12), Minnesota, USA
