Commercial Description:
Loosely based on Vienna style, Wisconsin Amber is a rich, malty lager balanced out with mild hop bittering and enticing hop flavor. Very fulfilling. Very drinkable.

This brew poured a medium sized head of fine to large sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lacing and a transparent carbonated light brown colored body. The aroma is a medium strength malt hop one. It had a smooth mouthfeel with a slight hop bite in the finish. THe flavors in this brew contain elements of malt caramel and mild hops. Although need ing a bit more character to make it better, it is definately a fine beer that I would not mind sitting around drinking with a few friends.

This ia a Capital brew that I initially really liked, then stopped drinking, then rediscovered. Amber is really not a bad beer, if you don't expect too much from it. Certainly more malt than hops, not a lot of other flavors, good color and carbonation, but not a Lakefront Stein Lager. The beer seems like a "safe" offering, and I wonder what Capital could produce if they put the pedal to the metal.

Bottled. A pleasing little malty brew. Nice beery aroma when you crack the bottle. Pours like most bottled beer, with an even head that fades to a nice little lace. A roasty malt taste brings notes of caramel or molasses. Hops flavor very mild. Again, a fine representative of the style, and I hope Capital will sometime take the chance to do something a little more extreme.

Rich, malty aroma. Deep amber color, avg.-sized, off-white head. Excellent lace. Flavor is a little off at first sip. Could be the taste buds getting used to the brew. Could be that it needed to breath a little. Heavy malt, virtually no hop presence. A little cloying. Made my stomach grumble. Off-flavors at initial mouthfeel subside at mid-glass. Reasonably full-bodied. Not a bad representative of the style, but nowhere near the best and also not my favorite style. Decent.

I don't know how I've managed to go this long without rating this beer. It's probably the Capital beer that you see the most in the bars around here. That being said, let's rate. The beer has the expected amber color with a thick tan head. Caramel scent, like I've noticed in most ambers from Wisconsin brewers. Very malty, with more of a bready quality than I'd expected. The caramel I smelled never materialized. What did show up was a bit of bitterness. Watery. Capital Brewery can and does do much better than this.

Amber near copper hue with solid small head and some lacing. Aroma hints of toasted malt, caramel, mild fruit, wood and some spice. The initial taste was malty, but a tangy hop undertone balanced the beer and cleaned the palate. Smooth yet lively mouthfeel. Medium-bodied. A good vienna styled beer, quaffable.
