Sep 5, 2005 (12oz bottle) Clear amber body with medium off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, malty -- caramel, bread. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, bread, light sourness and a bit of spiciness. No hop characteristics noticeable. Light-medium body.

Jan 15, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a medium and slightly hazy amber color with a huge (4.5 finger) off white head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, some spices and light caramel. Contrary to the description, I found the aromas to be on the hoppy side. Tastes of caramel, grain and some oranges. Faint hops in the taste vs. the aroma. Thinner body.

Nov 5, 2002 Pleasant sweet hoppy aroma. Very well balanced flavor and a crisp sweet finish. Very good example of an amber ale.

Nov 6, 2004 Tap: This poured a copper color with a short-lived white head. The aroma is of very sweet malts and fresh grasses. The taste, too, is very sweet, quite caramelly. There’s kind of a surprising bitter finish. It’s not bad.

Jan 14, 2005 Thanks to Duane for this. Amber/slight ruby pour with minimal head. Aroma of malt, spice, fruit, slight cognac. Tastes malty, with some frutiness, slight caramel, and toffee in the finish. Solid.

Nov 13, 2001 I was a bit surprised by this; had it in Madison yesterday at a Mexican restaurant not knowing much about it, and it turned out to be one of the best Ambers I’ve had. Lots of malty character, very sweet and caramel-like, but with just enough hops to keep it from going Scotch Ale on you. Could have more character in the nose, but not much to complain about.
