unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Nov 6, 2009 Tap @ Capitol Hill.
Deep copper color, clear. With an off-white head, great lacing. Aroma has a huge toasted malt character. Nice toasted grain flavor. Grassy hop gently follows.
26 Oct 09. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 29, 2009 Dark for an amber ale, no head. Very hoppy aroma, with a medium body. One of the best on tap. Elwood (667), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 26, 2009 Serving: Draft.
Appearance: Clear amber color with a creamy, off-white head. Good head retention.
Aroma: Malty nose with notes of caramel and light floral and citrus notes.
Flavor: Hoppier than I was expecting. Malty for sure with caramel, toast, and bread notes. Citrus and slight earthy hop notes.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-long finish.
Overall: A nice hoppy amber. Not a bad selection when they have it on tap. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 14, 2009 Draft at Brewery: Poured an amber color with a medium head. The aroma was sweet malts. The flavor was sweet malts, fruit, and caramel. Overall, a nice beer. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 13, 2009 Sample at the Downtown location. The beer pours a clear dark amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt aroma with a small spike of hops. Medium body with flavors of bready malt, caramel and hops. The finish is sweet and malty with a short hoppy aftertaste. Unassuming, above average beer. LordBeamish (144), Boozetown, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2009 On tap in D.C........A nice amber offering with a malty/fruity aroma.....well balanced and smooth...a nice beer but not even close to my favourite at Capitol City. Radek Kliber (3928), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2009 On tap at Capitol City – Downtown
Appearance: amber, copper look with mid creamy top. 3+ Nose: caramel malt, mild nose with hint of citrus. Flavor/Palate : mid full bodied. Bolder , good malt body with prominent hop presence. English and west coast hop mix. Tea with citrus. Smooth , clean ale. Solid but not exceptional. 13+/20
Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jul 4, 2009 A dry hopped version sampled at the Virginia Beer Festival, last one of the day, and a great way to finish things off. Hazy amber, nice head. Big hop aroma, lots of citrus and faintly floral. Big green chlorophyll hop flavor, but enjoyable, with light caramel malt and a big citric hop finish. Very nice. Definitely on the hoppy end of the amber scale, which is a very good thing. This style really can be good, it just rarely tries to meet what it can be.
