Pint at the Capital City Brewing Company, Washington, DC. Pours a medium-dark orange-red; frothy, white ring and a fair amount of lacing. Aroma floral and hoppy. Flavor malty with light fruit; overhopped. Medium to light body; too thin. Served quite too cold, frankly, and by the time I had sucked down most of my amber chicken sandwich with chipotle BBQ sauce, my taste buds were no longer up to par. Had this been served properly, there probably would have been some more detectable, subtle flavors. Nonetheless, even at refrigerator temperature, it’s clear that this beer is way too hoppy and very unbalanced.

Poured an average amber-copper color with a normal head (it was there, but didn’t astound). The lacing was excellent, though. The flavor was somewhat caramel-like, but the floral and slightly grassy finish was hoppy and bitter. Not enough balance for me.

Clear amber color with no head. Aroma of hops and some malts, but not a strong aroma. Tastes of hops with some malts. A bit bitter aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but not much better than Killian’s.

"Pouered a copper color. Ok head lacing was perfect. Flavor was carmel malts way hoppy and bitter. The hops overwelmed the beer. should have been better balanced."

(02.03.06) On tap at Capitol City brewpub (Capitol Hill), Washington, D.C. Clear amber hued ale having a large long-lasting head with good lacing. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt/hoppy aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and citrus (grapefruit)/pine resin flavors. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness. Tasty. Well-balanced with notable hop profile. A very good dry hoppy drinkable ale.

lupulin slam #3. copper. aroma is mild fruity malt, some floral hops but not much. clean finish, flavor is caramel, some piney hops in the finish. completely out of place at the lupulin slam, but not a bad beer.
