jb (1024), Rochester, New York, USA Sep 4, 2006 An unusual style to see at a brew pub, so of course it was my 1st order. This was cloudy, very dark with orange highlights and no head. I thought this was a bit too cool when served, lots of the aromas didn’t come out for some time. There was a yeasty aroma and a light caramel-malt aroma. Dark fruit and yeast in the palate. dolemike1 (1116), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 26, 2006 Dark amber, with an almost purplish tinge to it, opaque , with an off white head. Light cherry aroma, sugars, and some yeast. Flavor is pleasant, mild cherries, some raisin, mild sweetness. Would have liked it with a little more flavor, and some sourness. But an ok beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 26, 2005 Capitol Hill brewpub. Lightly hazy, dark amber body with a frothy beige head. Aroma of dark caramelized sugar and a note of burnt rubber. Mild esters and clove-like phenols in the flavor with an element of cherries. Quite sweet initially, but the impression grew woody and drier as this sat. Not bad overall.
