Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Aug 23, 2007 sampled at brewpub. light copper pour with mild carbonation and mild head. light malty smooth aroma. slighty hoppy bitter thruought, light and semi smooth. like a mix of a pale and a kolsch. good light and sessionable. radagast83 (1272), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Aug 19, 2007 Shirlington as "American Common". Poured a pretty clear, slightly hazy amber/copper color. Had a nice head to it. Aroma was hoppy. Flavor was very nice, with a decent lager type body. Of course, it reminded me of good old Anchor’s steam beer, so they did a good job. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jun 12, 2005 Clear amber/copper coloured body with a nice off-white head. Aroma of light hops, sweet caramel & malt, all with plentiful alcohol. Medium-bodied; Malty initial taste with nuts and cardboard. Then showing some pale hop flavour with an odd-seccond runnings taste (ala Anchor Small Beer). Aftertaste clean & malty - no hops at all. Overall, a decent brewpub beer - not great, but after some more work, it will be much better. Thanks to my brother-in-law Andy for letting me try this! I sampled this beer poured from a growler filled at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington (Arlington), Virginia on 28-February-2005.
