Aroma: Subtle, boring typical Pils-like nose
Appearance: Clear, yellowish
Flavor: Slight fruits, not much else there
Palate: Light body, thin, no lingering taste
Overall Impression:
I’m not a Kolsch guy, For the style it was better then average, but I still couldn’t rate it much then this. SamGamgee (1436), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2009 Draught at the downtown location. Light yellow with a fine white head that leaves some lace. Slightly sweet, grainy aroma, with a subtle hop spice. The flavor is a bit grainy, maybe due to the 10% wheat, and has a light sweetness before finishing with a touch of bitterness and german hop flavor. I’m hard on Kölsch because I know that it can have great, subtle malt flavor, and this one misses by a bit; just a bit thin and grainy, though it does have some hop bite. *Summary* - As far as the kolsch style goes this is a great version. Light and easy on the palate it refreshed without being heavy. It would not be hard to knock down a few of these in short order.
*Aroma / Appearance* - Clear and carbonated the thin white head protects a simple nose of light hops. There is not much to report; it is a kolsch after all.
*Flavor / Palate* - Fading fast there is a blend of honey and wheat before the end. Definitely a warm weather refresher this could be a nice value if you are a fan of the style. KnN (724), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Prety nice as far as a Kolsch goes. Poured a pale yellow. Had a nice hoppy nose. Flavor was hops and a little bit of biscuit dough. Palate was a little thin, but a Kolsch is not a style you really want to chew on. Could see having a couple of pints of this and not being unhappy. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 1, 2008 GABF 2008. Clear pale golden. Grainy, with a faint apple and pear accent. Palate is thin and watery, pale malts with a hint of orchard fruit. Not a very convincing kolsch.
