Commercial Description:
This lager like ale is modeled after the official beer of Köln, Germany. Kolsch is delicate and refreshing with a slight fruitiness and supportive, yet unobtrusive hop bitterness

Tap at the Capitol Hill location. Pours a very clear, very light straw with a thin lasting pure white head. Aroma is lightly herbal hop, spice and a bit of esters as it warmed. Very light flavor- hay and light pils malt profile with a lightly floral hoppiness. Very clean and well made Kolsch.

On tap at the downtown pub. clear, light straw color with attractive bubbles working up through the beer. Light lemon citrus with bready malts. Very easy drinking beer. A good thirst quencher.

Tap at the Capitol Hill location.

Pours incredibly light clear yellow with a small white head. There is essentially no aroma here, just a dry, bready flavor with some spicy hop whispers and some dusty hay.

While is not an amazing beer, nor is it so bad. On a previous encounter, on a 100-degree summer day, I found this quite a nice thirst quencher.

Draught. Very pale, white head. Aroma is very weak malt. FLavor is similar. Not a Koelsch. This is obviously the beer on tap for Bud drinkers.

On tap at the brewpub in DC - NY Avenue location. Light golden pour, good bubble action, tight white head. Neutral aroma. Buttery flavor, some sweet creamy notes. Thickish mouthfeel. Very decent brewpub Kolsch.

Draft at Capitol City Union Station. Pours gold with little white head. Aroma of wheat and biscuits but with a bit of pale lager smell. Taste is like a pilsner with some faint wheat character, tastes like 18% wheat just as it says. Bittersweet finish. Not bad, but had the least to offer of the Capitol City brews that I tried.

Draft @ Capitol City downtown Pale yellow, thick white head, lots of lacing. Malty nose, spicy witha rich husk and biscuity character. The flavor is moderately bitter with a light sweet malty undertone. Finishes musky, not a bad kolsch.

Light golden body with a white head. Grainy aroma, very light hops. Tast of wheat and light fruits. Semi-sweet ending.
