KUEric (579), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Jun 11, 2008 Another just barely above average beer from Capital City Brewing. I wasn’t overly thrilled with any of thier offerings. This on had some serious java flavors. A little maltiness.
puzzl (1894), New York, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Tap at the brewpub. Mildly roasty, dark chocolate aroma. Bitter hops in the flavor are very out of place, with an awfully thin body, and no good roast at all. JoeMcPhee (3865), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 Tap at the downtown location. Very dark brown/black beer with a thick sticky light brown head. Aroma is very nice and chocolatey. Lots of rich herbal character throughout, complex malts and lots of earthy/woody hop aroma as well. Flavour is also chocolatey, herbal and bitter. Good palate, rich but not too sweet. Good balance with a lingering earthiness. I quite liked this. ansermadide (254), Kyle, Texas, USA Jun 9, 2008 (On tap at Capitol City Brewing Capitol Hill Brewpub on November 2, 2007) Dark brown color with off-brown head. Spice, fruits, certainly well malted and roasty. Thin body, goes down easy. Not too heavy or complex. Light hops, which pronounce themselves on the aftertaste. A great treat after you roll into Union Station! Love the brewpub. kidmartinek (759), austin, Texas, USA May 19, 2008 Pours dark brown, barely translucent, with a dark cherry tint when held to light. Head is under an inch but holds well. Aroma is of medium dark malts, slightly roasted and a little sweet smelling, with some nuts and some chocolate. Flavor is of heavily roasted malt, milk, and coffee, and develops a little bitterness. Mouthfeel is skim milk-like, like most correct porters. Lacing is pretty wicked and abundant. Finish is kinda harsh, burns a little going down.
