yngwie (3529), Kristiansand, Norway May 7, 2008 Bottle at the Belgian Embassy in Oslo. It pours a slightly hazy golden body under a minimal off-white head. Spices, pale malt and hops in the aroma, quite nice. The flavor has spices, malt, some bitterness, as well as a little sweetness and fruityness, and a hint of herbs. Hoppy, bitter finish, but in a moderate way. Nice and refreshing, probably a nice summer beer. (080410)
Sigmund (1938), Hafrsfjord, Norway Aug 29, 2008 330 ml stubby bottle, thanks to oh6gdx and chris_o. ABV is 5.7%. I admit I had never heard of manuka before I got this beer! Clear amber colour, huge off-white head with an orangey hue. Moderate aroma of malts and spice, and something undefined which I suppose is the manuka leaves. The flavour has moderate malts and some caramel and undefined spice, with a noticeable bitterness in the finish, which might or might not be caused by manuka leaves, in addition to the hops? Definitely drinkable, but not particularly exciting. Ober (307), Best, Netherlands Aug 23, 2008 a little hazy amber colored beer, with a off-white head. The aroma of spices, fruits and malts. The taste of brown spiced biscuits, some quinine, there is bitterness. The after taste is dry bitter.
I don’t no the aroma and taste of Manuka, but iI think it’s there, because there are some unknown notes. BoBoChamp (651), Gent, Belgium Aug 17, 2008 33cl, brew with manuka, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, balanced, cloudy, good head, nice brew BeerBiker (1186), Odense, Denmark Aug 13, 2008 [Sampled on svogertour with Thomas and Troels at Mols.] Haze darkorange look with good light orange head. Fruits, weak caramel. Nice manuka?!?, I didn’t know the flavor, but ok. Perfumed and dry finish. Hansen (1680), Randers, Denmark Aug 4, 2008 Looks good, dark amber and clear. Has a fine, off-white head, mostly lasting. But I dont like the aroma, too perfumed, perhaps the "manuka" leaves.
