Feb 19, 2008 12 oz bottle via Mys Swap 3.0 (Thanks dickinsonbeer!). This one pours a clear copper with an average size white head. Nose is orange, grapefruit, pine hoppiness. Tastes exactly like it smells, nothing more, nothing less. Very clean. Too clean in fact. I like my hops a bit chewier and with more resin. Body is light, carbonation medium. An ok DIPA.

Feb 18, 2008 Growler courtesy of Mike. Pours a clear amber with a thick frosty white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of pine, grassy notes and citrus. Taste of east coast pine, citrus, and grassy and floral notes. Very tasty.

Feb 17, 2008 Piney hops, the slick mouthfeel of alcohol, and a big bitter finish. Not as drinkable as some other double IPA’s, especially the Southern Tier Un-Earthly as long as we’re drinking in NYC... but there is a redeeming rustic assertiveness to this beer. You really taste and smell the hops. I love the lightning strike of bitterness that precedes the hop sensation that grabs hold of the palate and won’t let go. Clearly a well-made, big, intentionally-badass brew.

Feb 16, 2008 growler thanks to my homeboy max.....poured a darker ruby red brown with a minimal soapy whit head that lingers for awhile.....aromas of a big floral and tropical hop bouquet.....flavors rendered much of the same. dominated by the hops but gave littlw way to some malt but not enough to make a large difference. bitterness in the finish and last well beyond that....a quality diipa.

Feb 10, 2008 Growler, via BA gpcollen1. Pours a nice copper body with a foamy one finger off-white head that slowly settled to a thin ring. No lacing. The nose is fairly aggressive citrusy hops, but not as intense as many IIPAs. Minimal malt impact on the nose. The flavor is pretty well balanced for an IIPA, nice fresh citrusy and lightly piney hops take control, but never become overly bitter. The malt breaks thru the bitterness on the finish, but it’s strictly there as a trellis for all these hops. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky resiny hoppiness that clings to the sides of the mouth nicely with a very soft gentle carbonation level. Overall, this was what I’d consider a "sessionable" IIPA, it wasn’t trying to overpower your senses and just give you a boatload of hops. Nice work CL!

Feb 8, 2008 From a handbottled 22 via MrBendo, bomber in great shape. Nice and appropriate carbonation level, hanging around. Wonderful medium dark bronze color. Slippery, oily and sticky palate. Intense pine, sappy aroma. Astringent hop flavors of pine and grapefruit, some toasted bread, some tropical-type sugars. The sugars don’t offset the bitterness too much which is a common complaint for me about Double IPAs. Very good, not my fave style but I had to try this version. All in all a very good, very balanced and not overly sweet DIPA. Goes well with Boar’s Head Rosemary and Sun-Dried Tomato Ham.

Feb 4, 2008 On tap, Gingerman, NYC. Really nice citrus aroma. Dark orange, good sized white head. Malty taste with a ton of pine like hops. Very warming alcohol. Tons of hops yet balanced, a superb DIPA - warmed my chilly rain soaked bones on Feb 1 2008.

Feb 3, 2008 Slightly hazy amber/orange. Aroma of grapefruit and pineapple. West coast balanced. Finish is bitter and biting in your throat. A pretty good West Coast DIPA, but not among the outstanding.
