DLD 2009, thanks to pantanap: It poured a dark brown, nearly black, with a scrawny tan head. The aroma had some weak coffee, roasted malt, dark toffee/caramel, and a hint of chocolate. Thin. The chocolate was slightly more pronounced in the flavor and a nutty bitterness appeared near the end. Okay.

On tap at Barcade. Pours black with aroma heavy with chocolate, coffee, and some weird sour smell. I’m not sure if the sour was actually supposed to be there. Flavor has coffee, toffee, and milk chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is thinner than what I would’ve liked. Wasn’t overly impressed by this, but it was pretty good.

Many thanks to Kan for sharing the growler at DLD! Poured very deep brown with a fine cap of beige head. The aroma picked up heavy coffee and darker chocolates, giving a very desserty feel to it.. loved it! The flavor was tasty as well with more of the same.. lots of well-roasted coffee and lesser dark chocolate (which also provided a moderate level of bitterness).. this was coffee-centric, but well-balanced. Medium-plus bodied with rolling carbonation on the palate.. a little coffee sourness on the back.. great stuff!

Growler shared with Hophead22 and Mspindler cortesy of goldtwins..Pours Black with thin beige head.. Smells of butterscotch with that dry coffee finish.. Taste is the same finishes very dry which I really don’t care for.

Growler shared by Hophead22. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head. Aroma is buttery with some oak, coffee, and a bit of nuttiness. Flavor is much the same, butter, wood, coffee, a little bit of chocolate. Palate is thick with low carbonation.

Growler cortesy of goldtwins, shared with DuffmanSW and mspindler, thanks Larry. Dark black with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch and hazelnut. Dry, some bitter coffee flavor, a little more chocolte thrown in there, not bad.

Draft at Rattle ’n Hum. Poured an opaque black color with a brown head. The aromas were subdued overall with whiffs of anise, dark chocolate, and coffee. Carbonation was on the higher end of the spectrum. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with coffee and subdued cocoa flavors. Pretty standard, well put together coffee stout that didn’t really ’wow’ me.
