Poured very deep brown with a fine cap of beige head. The aroma picked up heavy coffee and darker chocolates, giving a very desserty feel to it.. loved it! The flavor was tasty as well with more of the same.. lots of well-roasted coffee and lesser dark chocolate (which also provided a moderate level of bitterness).. this was coffee-centric, but well-balanced. Medium-plus bodied with rolling carbonation on the palate.. a little coffee sourness on the back.. great stuff! Maltajo (109), TARRYTOWN, New York, USA

Huge coffee nose with roasted malts and a light sweetness. The flavor has espresso like coffee notes, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Not a very complex beer, but well put together, tasty, and super drinkable at 6% ABV. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

Black pour with a beautiful brown head. Oh the espresso comes out in this one so wonderfully. So does some chocolate and finely roasted malt. Flavor is a perfect combination of espresso, chocolate, roast and a fine background of hops. I wish I could drink this more often! notalush (2684), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Growler from Big Z’s - pours a very dark brown, with soapy lace - strong, roasty espresso aroma, tempered by a lactose sweetness - the same can be said of the flavor - it has a potent, tasty espresso flavor, without the strong bitterness associated with coffee - their is just enough sweetness to keep it at bay, and let the complex notes of the coffee bean really shine through - some roasted malt accentuates this - the (relatively) light body makes this more like a porter, but you can’t split hairs with a beer this tasty - I love coffee, and coffee stouts, and this one does not disappoint. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA

A thick black body with a nice bone color head that had decent retention. Aroma had a heavy coffee not but i could detect a pleasant chocolate note too, but a good roasted profile all the way. Flavor was initially sweet with semi-sweet chocolate note it gave away to a great roasted coffee profile. A great dry finish, and a beer that certainly was full bodied. zathrus13 (1313), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Growler, thanks to Ross. Pours dark brown/black, with as small, brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is coffee and roasted malt, along with some vanilla and bits of semi-sweet chocolate. Body is a little thin, but this isn’t an impy stout after all. Carbonation is low, but it works well for this one. Nice! Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
