CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Oct 18, 2009 On tap at the Ginger Man - NYC. Pours a slightly hazed pale amber-orange-golden, with a nice lick of clean white head. Aroma throws off a mix of cooked and fresh ginger that reminds me of good chinese food. Flavor is less interesting. A thin, tinny weak ginger and belgian yeast. Some spiced astringency and a flaccid yeast character. Sticky and undercarbonated. Unexciting. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 14, 2009 @Peekskill–on tap-pours a white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is perfumy-honesuckle, ginger, medium malt-caramel. Taste is ginger, light malt-caramel, light body. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jul 31, 2009 Time to catch up before BCTC. On tap at Mugs. Flat no head. Bad pour. Malty sweet fruity aroma. Sweet peachy fruity cloying gross. Couldn’t finish. joebudzjoe (222), Connecticut, USA Jul 15, 2009 Tap @ Ginger Man, Norwalk, CT. This beer was a pleasant surprise. The ginger flavor is nicely subtle while most of the undertones from from a lemony hint. This beer actually takes very similar to lemon flavored black tea. Not a bad treat for a specialty flavored beer. BellsFan (47), Michigan, USA Jul 14, 2009 Tap at Ginger Man in CT. Pale golden beer with lots of spice. Too much Ginger flavor for me. ben4321 (953), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 28, 2009 Location: On tap at the Ginger Man in NYC, 4.5 oz glass as part of a flight, 6/27/09
Aroma: Mostly a malty nose, fruity, a little spice, and of course, the ginger
Appearance: Clearish orange color, light head
Flavor: Solid tasting beer, nice malty sweetness to it, definitely strong on the Belgian yeast flavor here
Palate: Medium bodied and a nice smoothness to it
Overall Impression:
This was a pretty solid beer, the sign told the story, it is the Ginger Man’s House Beer, and it is brewed by the brew master from Capt Lawrence, a brewer I have not had the pleasure of trying too many things from, but one that I have heard good things about. This was definitely a nice beer, and I’d like to get my hand on more stuff from this brewery soon. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA May 23, 2009 On tap at the Ginger Man in Norwalk. Poured a hazy amber with a fizzy/frohty white head. Some aroma of bubble gum and toffee, a bit of ashen earthiness. Flavor is rather dry and heavy on belgian yeast esters with strong notes of coriander, dark fruit, and of course, ginger. The ginger makes this very dry, perhaps a bit too much so. Toffee takes dominance in the finish, overshadowing the spices. Somewhat unrefined and although drinkable far from memorable. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2009 On tap at The Ginger Man, their house ale. Dark yellow with white head and lace. Dry beverage, some ginger in front. Above average mouthfeel. As good as the style normally is, though I do not usually go in for ginger
