750ml bottle...... orange brown pour that allowed some light to pass through. thinnish white head topped it off..... lots of brandy barrel notes coming through in the nose. very sweet at its core with lighter apple accents that made me think of sweet apple cider. dominated by the brandy which isn’t always a bad thing and i didn’t mind it too much..... flavors included the aforementioned sweet brandy and not as assertive green apples. mouthfeel was fizzy and lively. unfortunately, this was just overwhelmingly hot and boozy such that the it left a burning sensation going down my throat and even the vapors made their way through my nose. it was all a little too much. it’ll get you buzzed though so its got that goin for it!

Bottle courtesy gunhaver. Let me just say that Captain Lawrence Brewing Company should be sued for false advertisement. While the beer was golden it certainly wasn’t delicious. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a one finger white head that fades to a ring. Aroma of citrus laced alcohol, oak, and a hint of green apples. Taste is loaded with hot alcohol, rotten citrus, oak, and a hint of green apples. Meium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and astringent finish. This beer sucks!!!

In short: Some kind of sweet woody apple/brandy carbonated drink. Unusual but not a very successful experiment.
How: Bottle 750ml, about 3 months old. Shared with Montreal rew. From pzzl, thanks a lot Andy!
The look: Cloudy golden body with lots of particle and even some monstrous big chunks. No much head to speak of
In long: The three dominant flavours to me were wood, apples, alcohol. I liked the strong woody barrel notes but I didn’t care for the the sweet apple juice and the very much apparent alcohol didn’t. I could really feel the brandy here. Rather sweet beer but not in a big-malted-body-sweet kind of way. Sweet in a sweetened-apple-juice kind of way. Forget about hops, malt profile or stuff like that. Barely a beer to me, more a distant cousin of a below average ice-cider. This is the weakest Captain Lawrence Barrel experiment, but it is so different from the others that it’s like comparing apples and…euh… it’s like comparing apples brandy barrels and grapes wine barrels.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet, fruity and yeasty. Goof flavor of wood, apples and yeast, alcohol vapors are there also. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. It’s a good beer, but I expected more.

750ml bottle shared by pepsican. Thanks Andy. Poured a hazy medium orange color. A bit of sediment was floating around. The head was fizzy and white. Pleasant aroma of apple, booze, toffee, and light buttery caramel. Kind of like a caramel apple. Fairly effervescent with a warming alcohol effect. Tasted of distinct brandy, pancake, light apple, vanilla, and a splash of champaign. I really liked this one.

Bottled, thanks for sharing pepsican. The body was hazy gold with a white head. The aroma was sour apples with some oaky vanilla. The taste was calvados with some strong booze. There was also some vanilla and Wheaties. A decent brew.

pours gold with a thin white head. Aroma is apple and oak. Lots of oaky goodness in the flavor, some brandy and apple notes, some citrus. Finished less boozy than expected.
