Murky orange with lots of sediment. Sticky eggshell white head with good lace. The aroma was warm with booze, with a bit of apple and the hops are still there. Wood flavors, tart. and very dry. Fuller body. High carbonation. Dry finish. Disappointing. blankboy (3214), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This stuff is crazy bubbly! It was coming out of the bottle after we opened it. Pours a hazy orange-amber-gold with tons of little floaties and a small diminishing creamy white head. Looking good. Nice aroma of caramel, apples, brandy, hops, spices, yeast, sugar and more! Flavour of oak and apples along with caramel malt and alcohol. Medium bodied. Man, there’s no way I could drink a whole bottle of this to myself but shared a few ways it’s fantastic, original, flavourful and very well done. kkearn (1010), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2008 750mL bottle, sampled alongside the Xtra Gold. Poured murky brownish golden with minimal white head. Aroma is dominated by apple, wood, and alcohol; very little of the aroma of the base beer comes through. Some wheat flavor is present initially, which is then joined by vanilla, oak, and apple and alcohol . Some hops are evident in the finish. Overall, this is a tasty beer, but i think the barrel aging comes on a bit strong. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

I am going to give this one another shot when it is by itself and I can focus on the complexities. Otherwise, I was dissapointed by my favorite brewery. First time that has happened. stefanje (947), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA

Big nose with sour apples, yeast and brandy. The flavor is somewhat boozy - the alcohol is a little too upfront and overshadows what is otherwise a fine concoction. I taste sour apples, brandy and grapes. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. The finish is short with a lingering sweet and sour effect. Overall: I will have to try this again when it is not bookended by big powerful ales. xmarcnolanx (798), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA

Taste is initially sharp apple, followed by tons of alcohol and butteriness. Some oak is also present.
Finish is buttery, somewhat skunky, apples.
Pretty okay, but nothing spectacular.
So much fucking alcohol. Not bad! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Huge alcohol, apple, wood, and vanilla aroma- very nice. Dark yellow, hazy (like cooked apples?), small white head - looks good. Taste - all booze at first. Softens a bit on subsequent sips, revealing apple brandy, a bit of yeast, a long ferocious alcohol burn. Seriously, to me the alcohol masks all other flavours that might be present. Just way way too much here. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hazy golden amber body with a modest white head that is not slow to diminish. (3+) An interesting ’Guinness’ cascade of floaties inside the bottle. Aroma is quite big at first but grows shy, sweet apple tinged alcohol, very mild hints of wood, oak grows as it warms. Quite boozy. Mild hops are blown out of the water by the alcohol. Similar flavour starts out very dry with the alcohol up front bust as I wade through it it gains sweetness, rounded fruit notes, mild woody notes are omni-present. (7+) Smooth medium palate. Pretty solid but I find the the alcohol is quite dominant, and the apple a touch muted overall. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry
