750ml bottle shared courtesy of egajdzis. Poured a medium hazy (hazier as we got to the bottom of the bottle) golden color with an averaged to smaller sized white head. Aromas of apples, vanilla, fruity, and woody. Tastes of apples, wood, fruity, brandy / whisky, and citrus. Lively body with some alcohol in the finish.

Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, wood, apples, toffee, citrus, faint floral hops, and a bit of alcohol as well. Taste of citrus fruits, apples, sweeter honey, apples, dry wood, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Thanks Mike for grabbing these for me!

Thanks to egajdzis. Pours a hazy golden/orange with a smaller bubbly white head. Aroma of green apple, oak, vanilla, caramel, brandy, some alchol and fruity. Flavor of brandy, green apples, some Belgian yeast, chesnuts, citrus, vanilla and whiskey.

25.4 oz bottle. Foggy cider with orange edges and a white haze. Nose is brandy, candy apple and spicy yeast. Body like a whiskey, kind of thin, with just a trace of carb which surprised me as I watched the foam creep up the bottle neck. A closer inspection of the foam reveals brown staining and suspended bits of bottom sludge. Weird, but still able to get clean pours. Taste is buttery, yeasty with alcohol and brandy. Promise of the aroma not quite delivered.

750ml from JW77. Thanks a ton for this one. Very high on my wantlist. Pours hazy white copper with a huge white head. Aroma initially of apple brandy soaked wood (obviously). Vanilla, spicy white pepper yeast and some hot alcohol notes. The apple brandy is quite evident on the tongue. Some tropical fruit sweetness, toasted vanilla bean, grassy hops, mildly spicy yeast and alcohol. Medium bodied with good effervescence. The hot alcohol notes need to be toned down just a tad. Perhaps a bit overbarreled but still a nice beer. I think time will treat this one well.

Pours hazy gold with an orange hue. Two-plus inches of white, dense head crested the rim before retreating to a skim on the surface. The nose starts off with a blast of brandy and apples. After the brew breaths for a while, the fusel-like alcohol becomes more subdued. Vanilla and peaches follow through with melons and pears. The mouthfeel is medium and sticky, with a moderate level of effervescence. The pallet is boozy and brash, with apples and tropical fruit way in the back. Bitterness to balance and other hopping is subdued. The brandy is warming to the point of almost hot, with a building numbness on the back of the tongue. Finishes with lingering alcohol, faint apple skins and a peppery heat. Pretty aggresive now, we’ll see what a few years in the cellar will do.

25 oz bottle, via puzzl, shared with BA Deuane. Pours a ruddy, murky apple juice colored body with some small chunkies floating about under a small thin fizzy head that receded to a partial covering. The nose is an apple juice and Tripel mix with a good bit of alcohol vapors and lots of yeastiness. Lighter notes of oak, white grapes, and minimal hoppiness given the base of this is their highly hopped Xtra Gold. The first sip kind of took me aback, all I got was hot alcohol, but the more I drank, and the warmer it got, the better it became. Alot more fruitiness and the qualities of the Xtra Gold came out. The finish was very fruity, but long after the swallow it was very reminiscent of drinking actual apple brandy. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy with nice soft carbonation. This was pretty darn good, though I really really want another bottle to see how this does down the road. Another unique offering from CL!

First, a big thank you to beastiefan2k for being kind enough to send this in our recent trade. This is one fantastic beer, only to get better I think. The wood and apple flavor really meld nicely in this beer, with the alcohol making itself quite noticeable. The beer pours out a cloudy burnt orange color/dark amber color with a one-finger thick head. Aroma is apples and wood. After it warms up it takes on this white wine like character (perhaps from the wood), waffle cone, spicy and yeasty. Flavor is full on apple brandy and wood with some subtle malty sweetness coming in meekly. The beer is able to maintain a nice fruity character, along with a semblance of the base tripel and nicely melds with the wood and brandy character. Excellent idea and it’s done phenomenally well. After a year or two, after it mellows out a bit I can see this being an exquisite beer.
