JohnC (1761), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 15, 2008 thanks to miketd for the trade.
Pours hazy golden with a loosely bubbleed white head. Aroma is musty, flavor has notes of apple, hops, and a dry finish with warming.
Naven (729), San Diego, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 Bottle. Holy hell, this was strong. Smelled amazing, like Martinelli’s Apple Cider. Flavor was simply too boozy. Strong, harsh, Brandy notes really spoil this one for me. It’s like a shot of Brandy. About a year of aging would do this wonders. Bartzilla (403), San Diego, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 Thanks again, Naven. This smells like apple juice a little bit. The taste isn’t like apples. It’s overpowering with booze. Which is fine, I loves me some boozy beer. I’ve heard tell that aging will do this well. Since I’m unable to age beers more than a couple days after they come through my door, I’ll never know unless someone brings me an aged one in a few years, in which, with all this talk of economic depression, will be worth it’s weight in Golden Delicious apples. presario (2447), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 7, 2008 Dark gold apple cider look with some bubbles. Aroma of hops, apples and alcohol. Big alcohol flavour overpowers the Tripel. Apple residue in the finish and aftertaste. I really like the Extra Gold but the beauty is lost in the barrel. JB175 (1366), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 26, 2008 First had this one on its release date at the brewery and it was quite hot - lets see what some time has done. Golden color with a larger, but diminishing white head. Aroma is pure xtra gold with a good deal of wood and slight booze influence. Flavor has some nice apple and sugar with a hefty dose of wood and vanilla. Smooth on the palate. I probably would still take the xtra gold over this, but I like it now and see it getting better over the next year or so. Unique and tasty! bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 (750ml bottle) Pours a hazy orange body with a small white head. Aroma of apple, brandy, wood, and caramel. Flavor of caramel malt, apple, brandy, yeast, and alcohol (a bit hot).
