Commercial Description:
Don't let the golden color fool you - this isn't your father's lite beer! Brewed with imported German malts and US-grown hops, this beer is a full-flavored introduction to craft-brewed beer. We add the hops late in the boil, allowing you to enjoy the flavor and aroma of the hops without an aggressive bitterness. Sensory Profile: Aromas of orange, spice, and green grass. Clean malt-dominated flavor, with a subdued bitterness playing in the background of the aromas of this beer. Food Pairing: A great match with fish and chicken, both sautéed and grilled, especially with citrus and herbs preparations. Shellfish steamed in Liquid Gold is a match made in beer heaven.

Pours an unsurprising golden color with a nice, but ephemeral head. Lots of different fruits in the aroma. Bunch of maltiness makes this a little heavier than your average Belgian ale.Fruity taste and somewhat tart as well. Some Belgian style hoppiness to tie in all together.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Sweet Belgian aroma with fruits and spices. Fruity sweet flavor with yeast, spice, anise and apricot. Pretty good.

Courtesy of someone at the Throwdown at Beerlando’s. Clear straw color, sparse white head. Real grainy aroma, pretty mild slightly phenolic. Mild, straightforward Belgian taste, sweet and grainy.

[2379-20090801] Sample. Mild wet leaf aroma hints at the vicinity of an over-ripened mango. Clear, bold yellow body with a quick bubbly white head. More generic grain in the flavour along with some fruit. Medium body. Not as wonderful as I had hoped.

The aroma was yeasty, bready, spicy, and wheat. Coriander and orange peel. The appearance is yellow, large white head. The flavor is bready, yeasty, spicy. The finish is more spicyness, low hops. The mouthfeel is medium. Good, not spectacular.

Just like her namesake, she shimmered and sparkled, casting a glow from my glass of the finest burnished gold medallions. A miniscule head cowers under her brilliant glow, obviously feeling itself not worthy. Her nose grabs my full attention. Wheaty, bready, doughy and yeasty, soft and comforting, fresh oranges and orange juice; a cacophony of invigorating and soothing aromas working seamlessly together. As if under a spell, I find my lips already wrapped around hers. Soft and light, frothy and effervescent of a creamy, not bubbly texture. Sweet lemon juice and freshly squeezed oranges lead into soft, artisanal white bread. A few more quaffs, and she starts to linger with a citric dryness which reminds me of the inner white lining; dry, yet soft and lightly tinged with the flavor and aroma of its parent fruit. Each quaff is a pleasing, thirst quenching repeat of the last, and before I know it, the small tasting I had poured for myself was gone.

Interesting in a rather good way. I am not sure if I would consider her to be Liquid Gold for my beery sensibilities, but there is no doubt she was still quite tasty. I’m not sure if I would put her in the Blonde or Golden Ale category but, either way, well played.

On draft at R & H. Pours a semi clear liquid gold with a medium white head. Bitter aroma of belgian spice, banana, yeast and tea. Taste of belgian spice, tea, banana and yeast.

2009-08-01. Crisp yellow body with a modest white head. (3+) Aroma has an interesting slightly funky tropical fruit character to it, muted touches of grass. (7+) Flavour has a similar tropical fruit character to the hops, light bitterness, lingering impression of fruit. Average palate. Quaffable, pretty interesting. At BCTC 2009
