Sweet honey-orange with corriander, pepper, yeast, and slight floral hop. Mixes German malts with a good amount of Belgian yeast and spice. The honey/orange spice and yeast taste lands it to the Belgian side of the fence. MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2008 On tap at CL tasting room. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head that disappeared fairly quickly. Pleasant floral aroma. The german malts really came through for me in the flavor, and this ale reminded me more of a german beer than a belgian. A bit light on the palate with a clean finish. Better than average. dmac (1487), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Floral aroma with notes of pepper, citrus and bread. Thin body that is highly quaffable with light carbonation. Spicy flavor with notes of yeast, toast, and pepper. Good beer but why the hell did I think this was an IPA?? RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Pours a clear gold with some head. Nose is nice and sweet. Flavor is equally as good being consistently sweet and never dropping off to anything sour, metallic, or negative at all. Feel is nice and smooth on the liquid with a bit of a thicker touch. Right level of bubble. Extremely drinkable. I kind of feel like this beer could be a gateway beer for people who are wary of Belgian brews. It is also my first trip into the world of Captain Lawrence, and I want more. Beautiful. MaxxDaddy (263), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Pours a clear, bright golden color; white head with decent retention. Pleasant amounts of Belgian sugar and doughiness and raisins in the aroma; nicely integrated. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: relaxed carbonation; plenty of Belgian sugars and chewy yeastiness and dough; lots of sugar and stickiness. Medium, sugar and dough in the finish; chewy.
