Commercial Description:
Don't let the golden color fool you - this isn't your father's lite beer! Brewed with imported German malts and US-grown hops, this beer is a full-flavored introduction to craft-brewed beer. We add the hops late in the boil, allowing you to enjoy the flavor and aroma of the hops without an aggressive bitterness. Sensory Profile: Aromas of orange, spice, and green grass. Clean malt-dominated flavor, with a subdued bitterness playing in the background of the aromas of this beer. Food Pairing: A great match with fish and chicken, both sautéed and grilled, especially with citrus and herbs preparations. Shellfish steamed in Liquid Gold is a match made in beer heaven.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Thanks dchemela. Nice golden color with a light head. Aaroma is yeasty as hell with some coridander, citrus and a good dose of malts. Flavor is malty, a bit yeasty and some fruit. Nice and easy drinking.

C&PLYFOTD: Growler, courtesy dchmela. Gold pour, clear, nice lacing. Spicy nose, Belgian yeast, dry, slight tart. Dry grain flavors, yeasty, wheaty and balanced. Slick mouthfeel, pretty good.

Growler, courtesy dchmela. Pours a crystal clear gold color, with a small white head. Smells of some crisp grain, subtle hops, and dark sweet fruits, and spice. the flavor is a little more malty than the nose led me to believe. Very easy to drink, but not the most flavorful belgian ale Ive ever had. possibly could have used a littl more carbonation and candy sugar, as it needed a bit of a kick. Still decent though.

Growler from my buddy Joe. Clear golden pour with a foamy white head. Belgian style yeast ester, bitter orange peel aroma. Smooth malt body, some spices, grass and Belgian yeast taste. Nice lighter style ale, great for mowing the lawn.

Mostly transparent, straw-yellow pour has a frothy foam head. Nose is grassy and fruity with nice characteristic Belgian notes. Palate is more than medium-heavy with a nice creaminess. Flavor is very enjoyable with a pronounced orange/pear quality that also has nice herbal tones and a slightly sweet finish. I hadn’t had a basic Belgian ale like this in a while and really enjoyed it. Captain Lawrence made an exceptional brew from a fairly standard style.

On tap at brewery. Features a gorgeous aroma of fresh black espresso and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is definitely espresso-centric, but with some mocha and sweet malt for balance. Palate is soft, and average in thickness.

A lightly hazed blonde ale with a thin white head. A pleasant vanilla bubblegum aroma with light orange peels. In mouth, sweet restrained candy sugar with light coriander and orange peels. Medium bodied. On tap at Blind Tiger, NY, Dec. 27 2008.

Mini-growler. Aroma first hints at softer and sweet yeast esters. Some light fruit notes: banana peel and tart green apple skin. Quiet malt hiding underneath the predominantly yeasty aroma. Some dried grass and cut flower hop aromas in the background. Coriander and other vague spices emerge as the beer warms. Pours a thick, hazed dark gold with a frothy bright white head. Delicate and soft on the tongue. Silken and velvety mouth feel. Doughy malt and yeast phenols being the most dominant flavors. Plenty spicy and plenty fruity as well. Very drinkable with a long, grassy and slightly sweet finish. Nice. Thanks Larry!
