Commercial Description:
Don't let the golden color fool you - this isn't your father's lite beer! Brewed with imported German malts and US-grown hops, this beer is a full-flavored introduction to craft-brewed beer. We add the hops late in the boil, allowing you to enjoy the flavor and aroma of the hops without an aggressive bitterness. Sensory Profile: Aromas of orange, spice, and green grass. Clean malt-dominated flavor, with a subdued bitterness playing in the background of the aromas of this beer. Food Pairing: A great match with fish and chicken, both sautéed and grilled, especially with citrus and herbs preparations. Shellfish steamed in Liquid Gold is a match made in beer heaven.

A growler that’s been untouched for far too long, with thanks to john_adam2002 for this most excellent bonus. Worried if there’s any carbonation left, but thought I might as well try it. Filled to the top and sealed, been sitting at the back of the fridge for weeks, so here goes. Pours a clear golden with a one finger bright white head and lots of effervescent bubbles rising, so that’s a good sign, lots of spots of lace. Aroma is bright and spicy, with coriander, orange peel, and some light citrus hops. Flavor is also spicy, with some sweet citrus. A good interplay with the spice, citrus and sweet. Enjoyable and tasty on a warm day, and held up very well; thanks again Adam!

On tap at a nice burger shop in NYC. Pours golden with a soapy white head. The aroma has pineapple fruitness and belgium yeast ~ comes across quite clean and lightly sweet. Medium body that has fairly gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with some thick wit-like traits due to the rich wheat like traits, some citrus and spice. There is more heartiness than a wit and some tropical fruit flavors. The finish is very hearty and yeasty. A nice tasty brew.

On tap as the guest brew at Keegan Ales today for lunch with the wife. How does she put up with me? Deep gold pour with dense small white head. Wavy bell curve like legs that sloww reduce to cheese-cloth webbing. Full bodied and unpretentious malts fill your tastebuds with cloves and corriander whilst teasing you. Balanced hops crep into the main body and slow steal your taste buds and secretly place them in the finish hops. You wonder ..."how did that happen?" and take another mouthfull only to repeat the same question. Fantastic with the buffalo chicken wrap.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Gold in color with a white head. Pithy citrus aroma. Grassy and spicy. Light hops and balanced malt character. Not great but well done. Bubbly. Has a weird, metallic malty note to it, but other than that, its nice.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a golden orange with a nice creamy white head. Aroma and taste of orange, citrus, spices. The flavors complemented each other very well. Very good beer, drinks smoothly. 7/4/7/4/14

Update 7/29/08: Growler from Big Z. Just as awesome as I first thought. Nice light, spritzy spices with some light fruits in the background. SO SO drinkable that I must improve its rating. 7/4/8/4/15

Another update 8/6/08: Another growler from Big Z (I can’t get enough of this beer!). Got a lot of melon (melon rind, honeydew, cantelope) from this one. As well as more citrus. This beer has become my ultimate session beer; it is that awesome. In fairness to this exquisite brew, I must bump its rating yet again.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma of oranges, spices, grassy/floral hops. Hmm. They seem to have gotten their commercial description right on. Flavor gets fuller and fuller, never becomes rough at the edges, hops are always there but kept in check, pleasant fruitiness/golden earthiness (maybe by this I mean honey) grows and grows and circles. Just got better and better for me the more I drank. I guess that would make it a stellar brew to session. Good stuff.

Tap. I was serving this to other people while trying it out myself. It tasted like a strong tripel with a big dose of coriander and spiced grains. The hops were present in the overall smooth and muscular taste. I was serving this along side a Hefeweizen and the two also tasted great together.
