WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Nov 8, 2009 375ml provided by Wetherel at Socal sour tasting at Stone last night. Pours golden wiht a bright white ring. Nose is tart sweet and funky. Taste is sweet fruity, with some cherries, unfortunately I noticed a very chalky taste and texture. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Nov 8, 2009 375mL bottle from MaxxDaddy. Thanks! Easy to drink. Medium sourness. Very good. Cloudy red. Some wonderful cherries in the aroma and taste. Easy to drink. LilBeerDoctor (1479), East Setauket, New York, USA Nov 7, 2009 Bottle, huge thanks to j12601! Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of sour funk, light fruits (cherry I suppose). Flavor is a little minerally, some cheese, and sour funk. Some sweet tart cherries in the finish. It was ok, but overall I was a little disappointed.
7/4/6/3/14 [3.4/5] fredandboboflo (1392), East Setauket, New York, USA Nov 7, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of cheese, mold, mildew, raspberry, young cantaloupe or some such melon, more cheese. Flavor I thought at first had some sour cherry, though the more I drink, the more I wonder why I thought that. There’s a decent level of acidity and some lemon drops but also some less appealing mineral character. Enjoyable. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bronze hazed appearance. Apple, pineapple, and cherry aroma; lightly gravelly, pretty quiet altogether.
Tastes almost jammy with too much of an alcohol and sugar weightiness to it. Blackberries, honey, some floral touches, but almost all sweet in flavor with very light sourness.
Its the weight of it that wrecks it; the flavors are good but there is too much sugar and alcohol, so even with the bright effervescence of its feel its just kind of heavy and hollow. Finishes with a leathery tea flavor/texture. Thanks Ty!
17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 4, 2009 Sample #21 at 1st CST. Pours a grapefruit color, clear, with no head. Aroma of crab boil, pool water, old bay seasoning, salt water, sea water, huh??? Flavor is salty pool water, moldy nuts, disgusting all the way around... what the hell... j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle that I took to Paul’s place for Kan’s visit. Pours a hazy straw yellow with a thin white head. Little acetone and isopropyl, soft fruit, mustard grains, cheesy. Flavors are a bit subdued. Plastic, light acid. Finishes a bit sweet and with a little more acid and acetone. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bottle... Poured golden with a white head. Spunky yeast and sour funk on the nose. Dry and light with souring flavors and apple-like fruits. Tangy, vinegar, and a little bit of noticeable malts and fruity, ester yeast. Couldn’t really taste the cherries in this, but that’s ok.
