Pretty nice pour, a pale and cloudy gold with some prickly carbonation. Aroma was quite perfumey to start with, but slowly softened and deepened to reveal the sour cherry flavors at its heart. Medium body, with a slightly slick finish. Pleasant but not especially complex. emacgee (1891), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Shared by Todd. Pours a hazy light peach brew. Thin offwhite head. The nose is tart, grape skins, light peach, fruity, mild cherry. Barrel comes through. Tart peach flavor, fruity, nice cherry sweetness. Not as complex as some of their stuff but still tasty. ucusty (1900), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Thanks to Todd for sharing! Muddy pink pour with a fizzy soda like head. Sour leathery aroma. I get apricot, horse blanket, cherry pits, and wood up front. Weird phenolic finish not band aid but something I cant put my finger on. I heard this was more of a trial type sour so Im interested to see what kinda changes are made next time around TAR (2093), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Rose-hued pale peach. Fine and sustained white froth. Muted but pleasant peach fuzz, sulfur, iron, cherry pits, and sherbet aromatics. Expressive assortment of horseblanket and Band-Aid phenolics shone through as well. Fairly alcoholic and suggestively medicinal. Dry malt and snappy phenols surrender to an airy and somewhat hollow center. Luscious cherry profile, pits and all, compensate slightly, though the cherries aren’t overly explosive or lustrous. Pleasing interplay between the brett and delicate peach-tinged lactic acid tingle. Sparse brightness renders the core of the beer fairly hollow and lacking in the depth department. Slowly emerging cottony bitterness mirrors the mineralic bite in intensity as distant sulfur comes to the surface with substantial sharpness. Oak and malt unite to provide some obligatory sweetness and structure reminiscent of straw and nuts. Closes with lingering peach and trace Band-Aid. Undeniably well-crafted, but overly restrained and hollow. Harshly mineralic and bitter , as well, and would certainly also benefit from brighter malt definition. Respectable. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Bottle from Cletus (thanks man!) Slightly hazy pink pour, plenty of carbonation and an extremely sour aroma. Flavor started very lemon tart, then a little creamy on the finish (although no cherries to speak of anywhere...) A good beer, and worth a trade if you like sours. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2009 375ml bottle. Mobile rating. Hazed pink grapefruit colored body, soft and cloudy. Soft lactic nose, creamed cherries and peaches slightly sweet. Tangerine, a little spoiled veggies. Creamy rich body, frothy and full, explosive but fine carbonation and acidity. Soft mild unripe lime and unripe peaches. MrChopin (655), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Bottle thanks to Cletus! Fiery gold with a bubbly white head that’s gone quickly. Nose of oak, some acidic citrus, and faint cherry, also an earthy, minty herb. Alcohol with warmth. Way too watery and green/woody. Flavor has more oak and citrus with a stronger sweet cherry presence, the combo working together as a contrast to the nose. Overall it is rather bitter despite the fruit. Thin body, sticky mouth, finish in wood, earth, and slight cherry. Under-carbonated. Not bad, but undeveloped and rather simple, especially from CL. beastiefan2k (1603), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Thanks so much Trev. Pour is pretty calm, barely any head but a beautiful thick, glowing orange/golden color, can’t really see through it. Aroma is light candy sweet with lots of acetic sourness covering it all up. Oak-y leafiness in there as well. Taste losses the oak and the overarching acetic quality is much less. The candy sweetness works well with the acetic qualities and makes for a cool and slightly different type of sour beer. But otherwise, its not too original as far as the new American sour beers go. And cherries, what cherries? 375mL capped and waxed bottle, Selin’s Grove Anniversary goblet.
