Commercial Description:
This is a truly unique brew, combining some unusual elements to create a powerful, yet flavorful brew. I brewed a similar beer to this one back in 1998, while I was home brewing out in California. Only this time around I decided to age it in bourbon barrels to add a new element to the already rich sensory profile. The combination of dark malt, elderberries and bourbon barrels makes for an interesting tasting experience. This is a sippin’ beer, so sit back by the fire and enjoy.

Aroma of chocolate, roast coffee and smokey wood, deep brown, zero head, oily on the glass. Taste of rich dark chocolate, coffee. Full bodied, bitter as can be, lovely oily mouthfeel. Very well made, it should improve with age. Thanks for sharing R.

Bottle. Dark brown, near black with a bubbly brownish head. Smells very tobaccoey and vinous with some cherry and oak. Rich flavour profile including some fluffy cocoa and notable bourbon barrel. Solid...really looking forward to some more of their stuff!

Bottle. Shared with several - thanks, R!. Man, oh MAN this was awesome stuff. Poured nearly opaque, thick-looking purplish brown-red, with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of thick sweet tart fruit, roasty malt, way less alcohol than 12%. Acidic, sweet yet tart fruit, roasty and mildly boozy - more like a sweet dark port or sherry. Thick, sweet, moderately boozy mouthfeel - just awesome stuff.

Bottle 750ml?

Appearance :Mocha brown with black tint, small crystal, sparkly crown.3+
Nose : Front, hint of vanilla, middle vinous alcohol. Deep aroma.7+
Flavour/Palate:
quietly soft with noted strength, chewy with drier alcohol spiced with good does of vanilla. Soft truffle at finish. Think of gourmet chocolate with vodka. Very good sipper.

Courtesy of Styles

Bottle: The aroma consists of berries, grape, chocolate, and bourbon. It pours a dark brown with very faint red hilights and a moderate tan head that fades somewhat quickly. The flavor starts with a quick dose of berries and quickly turns to moderate bourbon. The finish has some faint roasted chocolate flavors, fruity tanginess, nuts, and light alcohol. Medium-full bodied with light carbonation.

Poured black with brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and alcohol. The taste was pretty complex. A nice roasted flavor with hints of fruit and alcohol. Not harsh at all. Very smooth.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Pours completely dark brown and almost opaque, there’s a warm, reddish glow underneath with a light brown head. Distinct and lovely aroma of bourbon and dried fruit. Rather full-bodied with plenty of sweet, roasted malt, vanilla and oak accents. The bourbon really shines all through also flashing quite some alcohol in the finish. Quite interesting. 100807
