Nice pale ale with plenty of sweet malt to balance out the hops. If I lived in New YHork I would be purchasing CL all the time. Having said that I’m quite happy to have Surly. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Clear amber. Aroma is like the IIPA with pine, citrus, grapefruit and a typical caramel backing. Medium bodied, lightly bitter finish. For an APA this was great. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA

Taste had a smooth malt backing to go with a pleasant hop flavor of citrus, grass, and pine. Everything an APA should be. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Pours a moslty clear light gold with a fluffy shiny white head and good retentiion- some lace as well. Citrusy and orange hints, with some light pine, grass, and light metallicy cascade aroma. Lightly bready malt profile with a nice light pine and citrus hop character and a clean pleasant bitterness. Easy drinking well made APA. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2007 My Bottom Line:
The spicy, fruity hoppiness of this American Pale Ale is intricately linked to the malt’s cereal sweetness which whips up a lusciously smooth body.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Some lacing is drawn atop the clear copper hues.
-The herbal, wooden hop notes complexity to the hop profile.
-Maltiness offers few flavors, but that body sustains ever so well.
-The lenient bitterness can still be trusted to actively participate in the overall very drinkable experience.
On tap at Tap NY.
