Commercial Description:
One of the first beers I brewed after moving out to California to begin my brewing education was a Pale Ale. This version is a true testament to the influences the Wild West had on my early brewing. My Pale Ale is loaded with US-grown Cascade, Crystal, and Columbus hops, so be sure to take a good sniff to enjoy their robust aromas before taking your first sip. Sensory Profile: An aromatic beer with notes of citrus, pine, a noticeable bitterness, and a touch of malty backbone to help balance it out. Food Pairing: Foods with a spicy kick are a great match, as the bitterness of the hops will help to cool the palate before your next bite. Mexican food and pizza are natural matches.

Pours amber with a light, white head. Pleasnet hops in the aroma. Floral, citrus, with some herbal notes. Light malts, also. Flavor is similar to the aroma finishing nicely bitter. Crisp, lightly dry body. Very well made APA, I’d love to have mroe.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 5 Aug 2008) Amber colour with brief, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with distinct notes of citrus and pine needles. Fruity, hoppy taste with lemon, grapefruit, pine needles and resin. Distinct hoppy finish. Goes very much in one direction, but for me it’s the right one. Very nice beer.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at GBBF.
Bright golden brown with a thin bubbly head. Very, very grassy and amazingly aromatic U.S. hop aroma with slight notes of ethanol and tea. The tea would usually spoil it for me but here the rest of it is so good it really has no bearing. Lovely fruity flavour that is not quite on a par with the nose but it’s still pretty good. The hops become slightly harsh in the mouth however. Sharp and crisp finish with no almost no bitterness? What gives? Ah well, enjoyable overall.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2008. A golden orange coloured beer with a great fresh hoppy aroma. Tangerines and oranges and other citrus fruits. Juicy and spicy hops in the mouth. Perhaps too fruity without sny balancing crispness, but still pretty nice.

@ the brewery. What’s so pale about this ale? Nice amber color with a full but not absurd hop flavor. Soft bite, like a toothless puppy.

Cask@GBBF2008. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is nuts, hops, alcohol and some mild notes of glue. Flavour is hoppy, grassy, and also quite lots of pine/apricot and mild fudgeish sweetness. Bitter and dry finish.

Sweet aroma with lots of hops, caramel and pine notes. Flavor is intense bitter with pine, grapefruit and caramel notes. Bitter finish.
