The aroma shows some nice hops with fruitness. Smooth malty taste, with a good hopping, but unfortunately there is a light impression of stale beer; maybe the keg has been open too long. Clear nutty brown color, small white head, lace. Nutty, hoppy aroma. Also flavor is quite similar: aromatic and nutty hops dominate the flavor. Starts a bit watery, then through pale malts it goes to hoppy finish. A ok. MesandSim (5940), London, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at GBBF. Bright golden brown with a thin bubbly head. Very, very grassy and amazingly aromatic U.S. hop aroma with slight notes of ethanol and tea. The tea would usually spoil it for me but here the rest of it is so good it really has no bearing. Lovely fruity flavour that is not quite on a par with the nose but it’s still pretty good. The hops become slightly harsh in the mouth however. Sharp and crisp finish with no almost no bitterness? What gives? Ah well, enjoyable overall. Rastacouere (5560), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Draught@Cap’n. Clearish dark golden pour. Excellent white foam with plenty of lacing. Gentle, clean, aromatic hops. Low proportion of crystal malts ensure ultimate drinkability. All about the crisp and fresh pale malts. Excellent hop complexity. Citrusy and crisp, piney and very drinkable. Hefty bitterness for 35 IBUs. Floral and sprucey. Pure hop flavours. It had been a while since I’d had such a vibrant and fresh pale ale. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
