Taste-medium sour on the low end, light horse, balanced funk and sweetness, light wheat, a touch of malty vinegar, some unsweet grape juice, some leather, lychee, perfect tannins. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 27, 2009 375 bottle courtesy dchmela and dickinsonbeer. Pours a clear copper brown color with a thin off white head that quickly receds to a thin film. The aroma is very tart with tart cherries and grapes up front followed by oak tannins, bretty funk, and wine notes. The flavor follows suit with tart cherry and grapes blended with the wine flavors and oaky aceticness. There is a lactic creaminess that comes through and smooths things out from getting overly sour. The oak and vinous flavors really set this thing apart and add a lot of complexity. The bretty funk really comes through on the finish. Awesome flavor in this brew. Medium bodied with active carbonation and a tart mouthfeel with a lengthy sour cherry finish that leaves you wanting more. One of the better sour ales I have had, and I hope I get to have it again. Awesome beer. MatSciGuy (640), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2009 [Bottle] from Cloudskipper. After I get the difficult wax off the bottle and remove the cap, there is no hiss, and the lip of the bottle is covered with brown sludge. We’ll see if the beer is okay. Pours a deep hazy garnet with a diminishing efferescent beige head. Aroma is super thick with wine barrel, lactic and acetic tartness, sour cherries, some horsey brett notes, and other funky and sharp notes. First sip makes me pucker up, but as my palate adjusts, the tannic acidity gives way to cherry and grape skins, a bit of funk towards the finish, and the alcohol makes a slight appearance. This beer makes my mouth water like no other. Apparently the poor seal on the cap hasn’t hurt the beer at all. Absolutely phenominal brew. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 18, 2009 One of the best beers I have had in a very long time. The thing dances on the tongue with perfect sourness mixed so well with the grapes and oak....extremely complex. Utterly delicous. Maybe perfect. Need another bottle to confirm. Almost impossible to bust through the damn waxed cap. Sour, funky nose makes the mouth water. Flavor is just the same, with a finish of funk and sour grapes. Very complex, flavorful, and most of all delicious. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Bottle in trade from yobdoog. Thanks! Pours a rich dark orange to red color with light beige head. Smell is sour grapes and cherries and lightly funky. Taste is very dark, tannic, vinuous, sour cherry and grape skins and dry. A bit funky and a little oak too. A cereal like sweetness in the finish that was more noticeable as it warmed. Medium body and normal carbonation. Light warmth from the alcohol, but very enjoyable overall. Certainly one of the better, more unique sour ales I’ve had. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA

Incredibly sour. feels very vinegary. Finishes really dry. Lots of floating sediments. Awesome hopscotch (5537), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Bottle… C&P’sLYFO Throwdown… This beer rocks!... Murky, caramel-colored ale with little to no head. Granny smith - caramel apple aroma. Medium to full-bodied and very creamy with mellow carbonation. The flavor is an ultra sour (this stuff means business), caramel and lactic acid merger with little to no residual sugar. Finishes sour, raspy and dry. Awesome!
