Commercial Description:
I am big fan of bourbon. It is one of the only true American distillated, and has a long rich history to go with it. Many people don’t know that by law, for a whiskey to be called bourbon, it must be aged in brand new, charred American oak barrels. So once that bourbon is dumped from the barrel for bottling that barrel can no longer be used to make bourbon and is of no more use to the distiller. That’s were we come in. We acquired freshly emptied bourbon barrels to age our Smoked Porter in, and it was worth the extra effort. We present to you the perfect marriage of beer, bourbon and oak for you to enjoy.

Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. Wood an bourbon for aroma. Brown body. Flavor of oak wook like I just ren into an oak tree and bit it. Sweet caramel presence along with a dry roasted malt finish. Good brew.

Sampled at hellbilly’s hellraiser II, along with the wine and rum varieties. Lots of sweet caramel, bourbon, smoke and vanilla in the aroma. Some roasty malt and sourness in the flavor, along with everything else. Some sourness really comes through on the finish. My favorite of the three.

750mL Bottle. Batch 1. Pure Brett nose, backed with a little porter ash and acidity. Clean brett infection. Pours dark mahogany with a brown fringe and a tan rim. Flavor is rich. Starts off with a very clean brett, but then segues and gracefully into some sweet caramel sugars. A bit of alcohol rises, but the Brett develops some complexity. Really nice fruity character glides into the brett. Light acids. Good clean funk. This is the best one. Nice bourbon character. A wonderful blend of base, bourbon and funk. Very nice.

Pours basically pitch black. Flavor is vanilla, perfume, bourbon, and wood - in that order. A bit bright, but very well done. Nice feel and easily drinkable. Gotta love those vanilla tones. A very nice production I have wanted to try for a long time, but finally got around to.

Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. 750ml bottle. Third and final beer in a three beer vertical. Pours an opaque brown with zero head but has a ring around the glass. Nose is bourbon upfront with a smoky porter background. Palate is sweet brown sugar, bourbon and smoky roasted coffee beans. Slightly sour, dry finish. Best of the three.

Bottle at home - tasting. Black - brow head. Coffee, bourbon, vanilla, light bike-glue, sourish, sweetness, brown sugar, a bit like a flamish sour, but is it intended ??....... Again: #12 - Amerikaner Blind-Smagning 12-Jun-2009 hos Papsoe. Bottle. Lovely. (8/4/8/4/18)

Pours black with a light brown head. Sweet with some sourness and a bit of bitterness. Quite malty. Also aromas of cask wood, oak and bourbon. Medium to ful bodied. Lively carbonation, slightly overcarbonated. Short mellow dr finish with hints of metals. I suspect an infection... dunno if it was intended... it was still good, though.
