Commercial Description:
I am big fan of bourbon. It is one of the only true American distillated, and has a long rich history to go with it. Many people don’t know that by law, for a whiskey to be called bourbon, it must be aged in brand new, charred American oak barrels. So once that bourbon is dumped from the barrel for bottling that barrel can no longer be used to make bourbon and is of no more use to the distiller. That’s were we come in. We acquired freshly emptied bourbon barrels to age our Smoked Porter in, and it was worth the extra effort. We present to you the perfect marriage of beer, bourbon and oak for you to enjoy.

Bottle (750ml - green). Shared by blankboy with GregClow, jerc and tupalev. Near opaque ruby-black, large frothy tan head. Deep roast malt, big oak vanilla sweetness, dry and a bit musty, with raisin and latex. The taste ... dunno, a little thin and sour - like weak "off" generic red wine, not much bourbon/oak ... Colour me a little disappointed. Thin, somewhat flat mouthfeel, acidic and a little sour - hits the top/back of my palate and coats it with a weak vinous thing. Ehhh.

Pours out dark brown with a rocky grayish head. Aroma is of bourbon, roasted malt and oak. Taste is complex, bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, earthy oak flavor and some barrel funkiness. Nice mouthfeel. I liked the rum better, but I’m a rum drinker, this was damn good though.

Tasted at the February Northern California Beer Tasting. This porter poured a deep black color from the bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, oak and bourbon. A medium to full bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and coffee, with a whole lot of bourbon and wine flavors. Interesting, but it could use some additional bottle aging, it seemed a little young, hot and unbalanced to me. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a hint of oak.

Great name. Good story. Feels like it should be a band name or a taunt from a WWF wrestler. Smoky, vanilla. Smooth. Dark brown. Definitely enjoyable.

300 ml cask, Barcade. Pitch black with a small fine-laced beige head. Rich nutty roasted malted aroma with a hint of smoked wood. Very soft texture. Rich roasted malt flavour. Mellow richness. Hints of licorice and a drying cocoa flavour.
