| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin froth of clumpy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet caramely malts and good oaky rum notes with a hint of lightly tart fruits. Body starts with a nicely dissolved carbonation and good sweet caramel notes with a decent amount of fruity tartness toward a drier, bittersweet finish. A pretty nice, well-balanced brew. Very boozy smelling, but you get some roasted flaked chocolate notes as well. The body is a dark ruddy brown and supports a diminishing tan head. The first sip is crazy boozy and hard to warm up to. It really burns on the throat. Chocolate, molasses, raisins and generally a good tasting porter is buried under it. I just can’t hack the strong rum notes. yespr (12175), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Initial chalky aroma with light acidic fruity touch and mild rum aroma. Roasted malt and light alcohol rum note, light roasted acidic flavour following this. Goes into a mix of dry roasted malt and light acidic finish. Dry and roasted into the far finish, mild rum flavour and a warming alcohol finish. Ungstrup (15245), Frederiksberg, Denmark

A black beer with a brown shine under a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of rum, prunes, plums, and roasted malt. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted malt, rum, prunes, and plums, combined with a note of alcohol that tickles the tongue, before a dry woody and alcoholic finish sets in. Thanks a lot Papsoe for sharing this gem. madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark

Rum, fruits and light liqourice in the aroma. Flavour has fruits, light sourness, alcohol, raisins and some roasted notes. Medium to full bodied. Well balanced. Alcohol dominating the end. As said by other, not as complex and refined as the wine barral, but still a good cup of beer. Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Pours a cloudy opaque dark brown with an orange glow, and a dense, creamy light brown head. Somewhat boozy rum aroma. Medium body, lightly fruity burned malt. Lightly boozy rum notes with a dry finish. A good beer but not nearly as complex as the wine barrel version. 250608 joergen (8610), Frederiksberg, Denmark
