Jul 3, 2008 Entered as my USA rating number 1700. Bottled. A black beer with a brown shine under a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of rum, prunes, plums, and roasted malt. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted malt, rum, prunes, and plums, combined with a note of alcohol that tickles the tongue, before a dry woody and alcoholic finish sets in. Thanks a lot Papsoe for sharing this gem.

Jun 25, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of BrianK. Pours a cloudy opaque dark brown with an orange glow, and a dense, creamy light brown head. Somewhat boozy rum aroma. Medium body, lightly fruity burned malt. Lightly boozy rum notes with a dry finish. A good beer but not nearly as complex as the wine barrel version. 250608

Jul 3, 2008 75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a slowly collapsing tan head. Initial chalky aroma with light acidic fruity touch and mild rum aroma. Roasted malt and light alcohol rum note, light roasted acidic flavour following this. Goes into a mix of dry roasted malt and light acidic finish. Dry and roasted into the far finish, mild rum flavour and a warming alcohol finish.

Oct 17, 2008 Bottled, thanks PilsnerPeter! Near black, beige head. Aroma of rhum and chocolate sauce. Fairly sweet with rounded mouthfeel Some syrup, some milk chocolate. Rhum is ever present, but not overpowering. Fairly low bitterness.

Nov 29, 2008 Bottled (thanks PilsnerPeter!). Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown fluffy head. Aroma is a lot of espresso coffee, some nuts, wood and also quite much rum in it. Flavour is coffee, fruits, wood, sap, chocolate and smoke. These things go all the way until the finish, leaving a nice chocolaty, smoked and roasted aftertaste with a slight sting of rum.

Dark brown coloured with a medium sized beige head.
Fruity and light roasted aroma with notes of dried fruits and wood with notes of liquorice and rum.
Light roasted flavour of fruits, dried fruits, wood and liquorice with notes of rum.

Mar 25, 2008 Dark burgundy-brown with a thick, mountainous head. Crazy nose - tart, dark fruit, hints of smoke. Nice complex, esoteric depths so hard to wrap my head around. Soft body, almost too much so as it borders on plasticy. Dark fruits, light malt, toffee and a subtle barrel influence. You wouldn’t even pick out rum. Interesting, if nothing else.

Dec 13, 2009 Black with a large brown head. Sourish aroma with roasted malt, wood, berries and coffee notes. Sweet and sour flavour with notes of rum, roasted malt, wood, sour berries and coffee.
