Rounded and roasted malt character with a subtle bacon-like smoke character. Quite refreshing when it enters the mouth. Medium carbonation level. Nicely balanced. The smoke character is quite restrained, but balances the soft roasted malts. Very soft flavours, and very drinkable hadn’t it been for the alcohol content. Dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma of soft chocolate, a bit of cream and smoke. Taste is very sweet with chocolate-candy tastes, a bit of smoke with roasty-sweet malts. Not as "smoky" as expected, but a solid overall porter. rudolf (1775), Buffalo, New York, USA

Flavor is dry cocoa, more marshmallow, a hint of toffee/caramel. Cocoa & slight coffee in the finish. A wonderful porter. MullMan (1082), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Growler. Pours a very dark cola color; fluffy light-tan head with good retention and lacing. Roasted malts and dark chocolate in the aroma; some smoked meats. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: pleasant smokiness upfront, with a full milk-chocolaty porter profile behind it; lively carbonation; there’s a touch of citrus bitterness in there as well, adding an edge to the prominent roasted character. The smoke on this is relaxed enough that my wife actually liked this (it’s small and well-integrated); I could personally go for a bit more. Medium, roasted malt and milk chocolate finish. dmac (1469), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Poured a deep dark brown, practically black with a light brown head. Aroma and flavor were spot on for this one, chocolate, roasted malt, hint of smoke, and an overall sweetness that made me want another. Fantastic beer. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2007 Hand Bottled: Nearly black, moderate foamy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Mealy nose, heavy roasted malts, slight milk sugar.
Rather sweet on the tongue, strong roasted malts, but moreso a HUGE sweet milk sugar/lactose like flavor.   Doesn’t seem that
smoked to me, but more so a sweet roasted goodness.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Soft hop presense, big roasted malt
background, lingering lactose like sweetness.   Smoked Porter, wha?!?!   This is much more akin to a Sweet Stout than a Smoked
Porter.   Whatever, I still enjoyed drinking it.   Big props to Dickinsonbeer for hand bottling this one and sending it my
way!

Perhas a little too much to have more than one in a sitting, but that one is worth your trouble. The smoke added some interesting flavor without overpowering the richness of the beer itself.
