Jul 18, 2008 Prefectly black body with a light kahki head. The head stuck to the side of the glass. The aroma was light coffee with some smoke hints. There was also some apple. The taste was sweet with some caramel and light tobacco notes. There is also some milk chocolate. Nice, but slighlty boring.

Jul 10, 2008 On tap at Sonora in Port Chester. CL does it again with a soothing malty porter, one with a unique slightly date flavor with undertones of black licorice. Very tasty.

Jun 24, 2008 Hand bottle from sleepylopes. Thanks! Pours a viscous dark almost black with a tan head. Aroma is nice and roasty with chocolate, a little earth, and a light smoke. It blends together very well. Nice flavors of roasted malts and chocolate up front with a light sweet dark fruit and a smoke essence that comes in the end. Smooth with medium carbonation. Nice on the palate. Light lingering smoke and chocolate roast. This was a good one. Light smoke blended well with the dark malts to create a very enjoyable brew.

Jun 17, 2008 Hand bottle courtesy sleeplopes. Pours out thick and very black with a thick tan head. Smoky, chocolate malt aroma that is very well balanced and not overpowering. Malty thick taste, lots of chocolate, licorice, coffee, and smoked malt. Finishes with a chocolate smoke aftertaste. Really a nice beer that makes me want more.

Jun 12, 2008 Draft at the brewery and what an awesome base beer for all this barrel aging. This in the running for my favorite smoked porter. Big dark brown body with a tan head. Smoked malt, woodiness, coffee, toffee, dark fruit. Sweet chewy and smoky. Who wouldn’t want to drink this?

May 31, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Beauiful pour, dark dark beer with a deep brown head. maltyness present, chocate, smoke throughout but present on the back end. Thicker palate. Balanced. Interesting beer.
