Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty and rich Belgian-style abbey ale. We combined both US- and Belgian-malted barley and a specially selected yeast strain to produce a truly unique beer. This beer was brewed as a thank-you to my father Vince who has helped to make this brewery a reality. It will be brewed once a year and released on Father’s Day. This is a great beer for aging, so lay some down and try it in a year or two! Sensory Profile: Ripe fruit, figs and chewy malt are a few of the flavors you will encounter in this beer. There is an underlying roastiness and caramel sweetness that comes through toward the end. Hops play a background role to the malt character of this brew. Food Pairing: This beer can stand on its own as an after-dinner drink. A rich brew to sip and enjoy, it also goes great with desert or roasted meats. Use this beer as you would a full-bodied cabernet or an aged port.

Special thanks to JMFG. Raisins, brown sugar and a slight alcohol kick. Flavor is fairly sweet but not off turning. Very good.

Draught on 25th July 2009 at Ginger Man NYC. Brown in colour with thin off white head of foam. Malt very much in evidence with berry fruit to the fore. Some background caramel; quite a lot of spice (cinnamon and nutmeg) in evidence; pungent to dry finish.

Bottle at the RB Rochester Gathering, Aug. 30/ 09. Thanks, ElJefe! Poured a dark brown with an off white head. The nose is spicy, and malty with yeast to it. Flavor followed similarly. This is a nice rich double, that has quite a bit of depth.

Bottle at the RB Rochester Gathering, Sept. 09. Thanks, ElJefe! Is this what ElJefe bills as a light beer? Light brown with reddish highlights. Unfiltered. Palate is sweet and sugary - brown sugar. Nose is toffee. Caramel in palate as well as dark fruit. Neutral finish. Nice!

Draft at Rattle N Hum. Pours a somewhat hazy red brown/amber witha fluffy offwhite head. Nose is plums and distant raisins, caramel and maple. On taste, mildly roasty beneath the caramel notes and dark fruits. Pretty decent and fresh tasting for a Dubbel.
