Commercial Description:
This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy. Sensory Profile: Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass. Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used. Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

750ml bottle-pours a retaining thin white head and cloudy gold color. Aroma is nice floral/citrus-lemon hops (yes, Amarillo), secondary light malt, yeast. Taste is lemon hops, honey, secondary light malt, yeast. OK carbonation.

Bottle: Big floral/perfumey aroma with some yeastiness and faint apple. It pours a transparent gold with a moderate fluffy white head. The flavor starts with faint apple and yeast. Like the aroma, the finish has strong floral/perfume notes with some faint alcohol present. Medium bodied with a somewhat fizzy mouthfeel.

This 750ml bottle poured to a beutiful cloudy yellow with a large, pillowy white head.Aromas were of honey, citrus, sugar and yeast. The taste was some what sour, slightly bitter with some lemon in the taste also,as well as some grapefruit. This is not my favorite from the Captain, but not the worst either.

Batch 1 in trade from hophead75: This is the finest aroma on a beer in recent memory. All fresh and yeasty, with huge waves of sugar and a touch of graininess in the nose. Absolute perfection. The body is quite carbonated; keeps the carbonation alive through the whole beer, but the body isn’t substantially thinned by it. Lovely little clouds of head float around in small clumps (not rocky or meringue-like). Cotton-candy-like mouthfeel, with giant simple flavors of sugar, anise and pepper, all roughly equal. I think this is one the the finest tripels I have ever had. Much better than the American hops version.

Batch 2 from memory (8/4/7/4/16 = 3.9): I loved the color of this beer; bright golden yellow, pillowy head, very inviting. Hops are evident everywhere, a bit of peachy fruit but also metallic elements, sweet all over, but not cloying - in fact, the mouthfeel is a little cottony and light. Would have loved some more spiciness to dry the whole thing out, but still a delightful beer. From willblake many moons ago.

Shared with jsquire, thanks...Pours slightly cloudy golden with a light longlasting white head. Good aroma of honey, malt, yeast and citrus. Flavor is less intense with too much carbonation.

Hazy golden color with a head like beaten egg whites. Spicey nose with lots of yeast. Orange peel, which grew as it warmed, coriander, doughy yeast, all very tingly on the tongue. It has all the right tripel flavors

Courtesy mgumby10. Cloudy dark straw color with a thick white head. Spicy sugar-infused aroma - candied light malt. Well-carbonated and light bodied. A very nice tripel - a good spice component and a sweetness that stays well shy of sickly. Nice.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a medium white head. Good aroma of honey, malt, yeast and fruits. Rich, complex flavor of malt, honey, fruits and yeast. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.
