Commercial Description:
This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy. Sensory Profile: Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass. Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used. Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

Tampa RB Gathering Beer #9....courtesy of boboboboski and mgumby10....light peach colored body, small white head that lasts....nose of fusel alcohol, yeast, cloves, other asst spices....fore is quite different from most tripels, don’t get a lot of that clovey taste that I have come to hate....medium bodied, round palate....finish is medium length and dry, great beer

Another great Captain Lawrence, this yummy hybrid of a bitter IPA and yeastiness looked good, smelled good, and tasted great. So what the person I shared this with and supper thought it overly hoppy and likes sweeter Belgiums. More for me. Very drinkable.Creaminess from the yeast, which starts sweet and then gives a good controlled bitterness from the tasty Amarillo.

RBSG 07 Minneapolis Grand Tasting: Blonde gold color, light head and lacing. Nose of tart yeast and lemon, some sweet fruity malt. The flavor is metallic and citrusy, nice hops and spice, not clean, but great balance of flavors and explosive citrusy yeast in the tail.

This one has a good floral quality mixed in with the herbal nature. There’s an adequate bitterness to match the sweetness and unlike the Dubbel, it lacks the alcoholic heat. Much better beer.

2006 bottle: Pours a hazy golden bronze with a big frothy, well-lacing, white head. Aroma of doughy sweet Belgian malt with a touch of floral yeasty esters and some aged hops. Body starts fairly full and sweet with a nice doughy texture and good complexity and authenticity. A nice abbey tripel.

As far as I remember the 1st release had less hops than this version. 2006 bottle. After a year still retains some hop balance. Nice bubbles but not overly carbonated. Beautiful unfiltered deep golden color. Aroma of sweet belgian sugar and malt. Hops have mellowed since release but has aged well so far. Delicous brew.

25.4 oz bottle. Clear gold, half white head with a careful pour. Thick lace. Yeast, lemon, pineapple and sugar cookies. Fizzy-foamy lemon chiffon pie. Alcohol creeps in a bit before a dry, sour apricot finish. Lingering citrus oil.

The color was interesting. In flourescent light, the beer appeared to be light green/yellow. In sunlight, it appeared to be golden/orange. The head was fizzy, and off-white. The aroma was lemon zest, citris, floral, very hoppy. The flavor was intense. It was extremely strong citris, lemon zest, a little tartness, and a lot of dry hops. The palate was crisp and lively. The finish was very clean and warm. This is a most excellent beer.
