Commercial Description:
This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy. Sensory Profile: Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass. Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used. Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

Bottle courtesy of pbsmooth. Golden pour. Fruity aromas of pear & big grapefruity hops. Taste was grapefruit upfront with a drier yeasty finish. Nice fuller mouth feel. Good beer

The Dan Journal #318. Tasted 12/16/09. 750ml bottle with cap. The first pour was relatively clear with a tight bubbled two fingers of head. Lively. Aromas of bananas and citrus, pepper and bubblegum. Full bodied with a bright effervescence. Solid malt bill. Tasty Belgian style yeast. Good lacing with a dry finish. Solidly produced interpretation of the style. Well done!

Pours a hazy gold with hints of an orange sunset. Nose is mostly belgian candi sugar and yeast esters, banana. Taste is good, for soem odd reason i prefer american Tripels, and this one is very much a quintessential american adaptation. hints of honey, lemon, vanilla, slight earthiness, slight floral hoppiness, and is somewhat heavy without being overly sweet.

Bomber via my local rip and run. Nose of piny hops and brewers spice with an edge to coriander and citrus peel. Body is medium plus and is a hazy golden. A thick soapy head slowly droops and leaves behind thick foamy ridges that slip back into the beer after fighting a good fight against gravity. A bit of banana. some light yeast tang blends well with the slow tangy intertwined finish. Alcohol is well shrouded.

Bottle. Moderate malt note of grain and caramel, heavy lemon for the hops, moderate barnyard for the yeast, with background notes of apple, wood, white wine vinegar and alcohol. Head is large, frothy, white with good lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky yellow/tan with an average amount of pale colored particles. Flavor starts heavily acidic, moderately bitter and a touch sour, then finishes lightly sweet, heavily acidic bitter and sour. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and a very dry and lightly alcoholic finish. A nice Tripel, just a huge bite of tartness throughout.

Bottle. Poured a golden amber with a nice white head. Nose of belgian yeast, hops and fruit. I can definitely taste the honey, but the hops just blend it nicely. Nice example of an american belgian, with good depth of flavor. Easy to drink despite the 10%, which is very well hidden. Good solid beer.

2009 Bottle - Pours a hazy yellow with a massive white head...aroma is immediately floral hops, lemony citrus malt, grainy and almost vinous in the tartness projected by the smell...flavour follows the aroma closely, the spice, malt and abundant yeast are true to form, but the citric acid and hop presence come from left field...truely a hybrid style, the alcohol detracts a bit, but overall an interesting brew and unexpected...when I got that initial tartness, I thought it was just another fucked unintentional sour from CL, but this was a surprise...
