Commercial Description:
10th anniversary limited edition
Reviving a tradition that had all but disappeared for over 150 years, the O'Hara family established a brewery in their home county of Carlow in south-east Ireland in 1996 producing beers of traditional Celtic and Irish origin, O'Hara's Irish Stout was born in 1998, winning the Championship Trophy and two gold medals at the International Millennium Brewing Industry Awards in 2000. The O'Hara's brand has now arrived at it's 10th anniversary. To mark that occasion we present as a limited edition O'Hara's Celebration Stout - rich in Irish malts balanced by a full bodied bitterness and delicate spicy aroma from Northdown and Fuggles hops with a luxurious chocolate finish.

Bottle. Very dark brown pour with a large dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Similar flavor with a slightly dry, bitter finish and a lingering saltiness. Interesting stuff.

Bottle from Pauly’s in Lowell. Pours a viscous black color with a reddish-brown head. Smells and tastes of toasted malts, toffee, milk cocoa, and irish cream. Much more aggressive and dense than i was anticipating, which was a pleasant suprise. Good stuff.

Clear medium to dark black brown color with a large, creamy to frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, vanilla, moderate hoppy, grapefruit. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is dry and oily, carbonation is soft. [20090530]

Big-ass swing-top bottle from Pat’s Liquors in Porter, Indiana: This pours a deep, dark brown body with a lofty, sustained light brown head and provides a whole lotta lace. The aroma is roasted, almost burnt dark malts with some bittersweet chocolate. Medium bodied, the flavor remains roasty, added some coffee, with the chocolate sweetening up a bit. Dry finish. Not bad.

Poured a clear dark brown color with a large creamy cascading light brown head that was lasting with good lacing. Good roasted dark chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a dry texture. Good well balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet dry finish of moderate duration. Good above average stout

Pretty basic dry stout. Well balanced, roasty, slightly bitter, and a bit creamy yet light and easy drinking. Not all that impressive, but pleasant none the less.
