bu11zeye (3448), Frisco, Texas, USA May 10, 2008 (750ml bottle) Pours a black body with a thick rocky tan head and good lacing. Aroma of heavily roasted malt, toasted grain, light smoke/burnt, husks, and light chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. RSRIZZO (904), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 4, 2008 Aroma is a deep roasted scent. Color is black with good carbonation and a big thick head that loosens up a bit but still stays tall. Taste is sharp, burnt and bitter. It starts with a medium body that goes down crisp with an almost sharp feel. Finish comes in with a roasted slightly burnt taste then a mellow bitterness rolls in with faint spicy hop tones. In the after taste the bitterness builds up a little and leaves you with a waxy almost oily mouth feel. This is a very good Stout, its a little more bitter then most and the waxy feel on the end is a little odd but still very good. The_Captain (149), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 28, 2008 Large pop top lid bottle. Poured very dark coffee like brown with a foam tan head. Aroma of chocolate coco and malt bitters. Very creamy on the pallet, smooth roasted malt flavor. Nicely crafted and full bodied, very rich and well balanced finish. The Irish know there stouts, will need to have this again. KnutAlbert (1991), Oslo, Norway Apr 28, 2008 Lovely coffee aroma, beige head.
Dry charcoal, lingering forest fire. Chocolate.Smooth, yet complex. This could be a beer for an all night session. nhorween (437), New York, New York, USA Apr 26, 2008 Swingtop. Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is cocoa, smoke, nuts, and salt. Meaty and cheesy - really savory smelling. Smoke and dark chocolate flavor with a dry finish. Hops in the back, nice finish. A surprisingly nice beer.
