Commercial Description:

Amber beer with a medium head. Malt and caramel aroma. Relatively sweet caramel flavour, too one-dimensional to compete with a british or a micro-brewed ale. Two thumbs down for Carlsberg’s attempt to catch up with trends.

Light fruity and caramellish aroma. The taste is with a lot of caramel, and some hits of different berries, and also a little tobacco. Very fresh and interesting ale. Not as flat and boring as much english ales. The aftertaste is sweet by the malts and with obvious caramel and some tobacco, but the hops are obvious too. Creamy body, but a little thin. A nice Carlsberg in the same league as their porter, and Carlsberg 47. I have also tried this on tap, but it was actually much better on bottle. Some of the caramellish notes dissapears on tap, and it becomes just flat beer with a little berries-taste. Buy this one bottled!

Can. Pours a nice amber body with a small, dense off-white head. Caramel and fruityness in the aroma, with some cooked vegetables and piney hints. Effervescent, medium full body with caramel and fruityness and a piney bitterness towards the finish. Medium length finish. My impression from the last time I rated it is confirmed. It’s a straight forward simple amber ale with little off-flavors.Rating: 4-4-4-3-9-2.4. (080828)

Bottled. Clear, reddish brown, with a nice beige head. Malt, grain, brown bread and some hops in the aroma. Quite weak. The flavor is weak too, with a little more bitterness in the aroma, else it is the same. Medium body. Pleasant hop-level in the finish. Carlsberg states that they have added co2, which I don’t consider wrong to do, but maybe they shouldn’t have added this much. (061007)
