Commercial Description:
Carls Lager has a clear red-golden colour, and is brewed with münchenermalt by bayerish tradition since 1847. Münchenermalt is roasted by higher temperature, which gives it a darker colour than regular malt. Carls Lager’s aroma indicates fine fruity and caramellish notes. In the mouth it is characterized by having a good body and low carbonation, which underlines the soft impression of the taste.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Clear dark red brown body. Sweet barley malt aroma with notes of berries and nuts. Very mild roasted barley malt flavor with caramel, more acidic than expected, not exactly sweet but it has low hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste.

[Sampled in 2003.] An old time favorite together with rød Tuborg, but lacks a little in complexity and fullbodiness compared to RØD.

Medium yellow red hue, essentially odorless except for a hint of bread. Very light malt flavor and mild bitterness. Big carbonation, I was expecting a bit more from this one.

Golden brown with a slight haze and a small bubbly white head. Slightly spicy aroma of grain and doughy malt. Taste is a bit of sweet malt up front moving into some crisp, herbal hops and a bitter, grassy finish. A decent, easy drinking beer, it’s just nothing to jump up and down about.

Pours a clear golden yellow color with nice white head that lasted a while. Aroma has a faint hint of skunk to it. Flavor is malty without much of a hop character to it. This beer is very smooth, and the mouthfeel is pretty nice. Lacing on glass is excellent. This beer is offensive in no way and is a pretty easy drinker. I would not seek this out again, but it is not bad.

Bottle. Chestnut colour with a moderate off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a whiff of hops. Flavour of caramel with a short though bitter finish. Not bad.

33 cL bottle (Carls lager, had Gamle Carlsberg ages ago). Pours amber/brown with light brown/off-white head. Caramel and slight rye-like grain aroma. Soft caramel sweetness very nicely levelled off into a mild finish with a minor bitterness.
