Feb 11, 2006 Bottle: Pours with a nice and stable tan head. Black body with brown corners. Aroma of burned malt and chocolate . The flavour is of burned malt, chocolate and liquorice with notes of black coffee. Delicate bitter finish.

Feb 5, 2006 Bottled - trade with chris_o. A black coloured beer which pours with a very small tan coloured head, which soon disappears. The aroma is burnt malts and some smoky charcoal. The taste is more roastiness and some burnt chocolate. Quite harsh in its bitterness for a beer of this type, and a little one dimensional but still a good drink.

Feb 2, 2006 Bottle. Black colour, big stable brown head. Sweet liquorice flavour with a nice alcohol warmth. Aftertaste is nice and bitter, but a bit short. Thick mouthfeel.

Jan 18, 2006 Bottle. Opaque black, very nice looking tan head. Some estery qualities, slightly sharp aroma, interesting chocolate flavors don’t really show up until the finish. Needs more smooth qualities - despite the label, my "dark-o-meter" points more to porter than stout. Doesn’t taste anywhere near 7.8%. Nice smoky/licoriche qualities.

Jan 2, 2006 Yum yum, I love me some Baltic Porters. Nose is mad malts, very crips, with some nuts and smoke. Taste is mostly roast with some cocoa, light hopping near the end. Medium bodied, silky, just the right amount of carbonation.

Jan 2, 2006 12oz bottle from Madsberg. Pours a thick rich black color with a thick brown head. Nose is salty, malty, coffee, nutty. Taste is very similar, lots of nuts, some more smoked flavors, chocolate and coffee. Finishes oily in the mouth with a lasting aftertaste.

Dec 16, 2005 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Clear, deep, dark ale with mahogany highlights. Small, beige head. Chocolate, coffee, toffee, toasted nuts and light smoke in the aroma. The chocolatey, malty flavor delivers notes of light molasses and alcohol. Full-bodied and syrupy with lively carbonation. Finishes bitter and warming. A world class beer from Carlsberg. Who knew?
