Opaque black, no head. Wineous, portwine-like nose, some tar. Very wineous, smooth palate - salted licorice, roasted malts, tar. Only very light sign of oxidation. Absolutely lovely vintage. JorisPPattyn (5183), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2006 Huge dark yellow-brown, very fine foam, leaving lace; quasi-black beer but with sparkling ruby reflections. Explosion of malts in the nose; dark malt mash, dark malts, also from dark grains as in French Noirs, and burnt grains. As entering a (dark) malt silo. Dry, wry, bitter malts taste, with a bittering effect that keeps growing. Straw, bitterish dried mushrooms, vaguely nutty, tad of chocolate, black cardemoms... And, guess what, pretty complex. There’s quite some restsugar underneath, but it cannot turn the brew sweet. Medium to well bodied, obvious grist slickness. If the taste is tilted towards the bitter, the balance between drinkability and body is excellent. From all the big brewers, Carlsberg is the one that puzzles me most. They’re capable of both the worst and the best - a bit like Coors in the USA. And, come to think of it (the Belgian branch of) Scottish&Newcastle. Big thanks to DeanS for this gem. This pours a very dark brown with a frothy, yellow/brown head. The aroma is of nuts and cocoa. The moutfeel is dry and the beer itself is medium bodied. It’s a nice porter. flemmingwillum (239), København S, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Carls Porter is a beer with a nice full body, and also with a nice taste of chocolate, coffee, and liquorice. Is also has a good amount of bitter hops in the aftertaste, which secures that the sweetness in this beer doesn’t become too much.
The mouthfeel is very creamy and quite delicious. I think Carls Porter clearly is one of Carlsberg’s better products. gnoff (3573), Göteborg, Sweden

33 cl bottle bought in Helsingör, Denmark. Brownish color, brown head. Sweet raissin scent. Very sweet taste, raissins and chocolate. Aftertaste goes more towards coffee and some bitterness. Medium high bitterness and full moutfeel.
As "Carlsberg Porter - Imperial Stout 2994" on a porter tasting with PDA in Gothenburg on August 26s. Deep red color, small beige head. Very sweet raissin taste. Sweet scent. Low bitterness. A bit coffee after taste. 8/3/7/3/13 = 3.4 DinkingDutch (10), Netherlands
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Higher standards than typical Carlsberg, or in general Danish. But still old-fashioned and very boring. It looks great though, until you taste it... If I wanna drink stout-like staff, I’ll stick to my Beamish or even -if I have to- good old Heineken’s Irish cousine Murphy.... gferd (99), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
