Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

5/24/08 From the bottle. Aroma is tangy and very sweet on the initial pour, but subsides in a couple of minutes. Noble hops are very hard to detect. Appearance is slightly hazy greenish gold with a medium white head. Flavor is sweet malt forward with a solid pils sourness and low noble bittering. Mouthfeel is low bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, not bad, but tough to pair with all but the lightest flavored foods.

Deep golden body, small white head. Minimal aroma, a little malt in the nose with some alcohol. The body is not a complex one...Unpleasant hop flavour, alcoholic malt taste. Not my style.

Canned. Dark gold. A wonder I haven’t rated thjis before, I have had quite a few from well before my legal dinking age. A very stadnard Euro lager,a nd you feel the alcohol edge. But it is decently crafted for what it is.

Medium offwhite fine-laced head. Golden body with light carbonation. Fruity dusty malt aroma with alcohol notes. Sweet-dry tobacco taste with alcoholic vaguely rotten fruit notes. Sharp dry cardboard and grass aftertaste with chalky notes lingers. Some alcohol heat. Deeply unpleasant. Poured out the rest. (0.33l can, Systembolaget, Charlottenberg.)

...this stuff will rip you, that is for sure. You only taste the alcohol when it gets warm, otherwise, watch out. Great malt flavors, not overly heavy. Aftertaste is not overpowering, unless it is warm. Pretty well balanced, considering the fact it is so high in alcohol. Wotrh a try.
