Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Reminds me of Euro Mickey’s- Pours a clear yellow colour. Taste is a predictably grainy and watered down. Aroma is skunkified mildly hoppy and dull.

Bottle, Kegs & Barrels, McKinney, TX. Pours more of a hazy gold then the advertised amber and has a white head with ok retention, actually laced the glass....oop’s, now the head is gone...strange....anyway..Aroma is of strong skunk and some malt. Flavor was supprising given the aroma.....is a nice sweet malty beer, but appears to have an old hop taste with slight bitter and leaves a somewhat undesirable after taste, I appreciate a nice bitter in beers, but this bitter taste like skunk. For being a 7%+ beer, it doesn’t seem to have much of an alcohol presence stick out, it seems well balanced on that note. Palate is medium with high carbonation. This isn’t a horrible beer, it’s pretty tasty at first.....why must they put this in green bottles to be distributed??? It just ruins the quality and makes it a cheap beer....just my thoughts.....

Golden yellow color with lacy medium white head. Aroma is sweet malty, hoppy and alcoholic. Maybe also a nice hint of ethyl acetate. Malty, fruity flavor with alcohol and some grassy hops. Medium-bodied and quite carbonated palate.

Smells of an elephant/skunk fart. I never knew elephants could survive Denmark’s climate...well of course they can’t. Neither can green bottles. Taste is better than the smell.....that isn’t a compliment. Almost like a 7.2 heiniken. Maybe it can comfort you on an iceberg before you commit suicide while listening to poorly played death metal. Still..who wants an elephant-skunk to fart on their beer. $8.49 a six pack is an awfully high price for Elephant farts..and I don’t care if they are endangered farts.

A clear orange colored beer, with a white head. wit big bubbles. The head is disappearing quickly. The aroma is grainery, some malt andgrassy. There is some smell which is hardly to discribe. The taste is a little sweet, with tones of bitter. Notes of old grain. Not a nice combination of tastes. Absolutely not my kind of beer. And I think this is not a good example of Danish beers.

Hadn’t had this since I had visite the brewery in 2002. Pours a clear dark gold with quickly dissapating fizzy white head. Aroma is very boozy and sweet. Flavor is basically all alcohol and syrupy sweetness. I like it, but I see why others do not.

Good head. Weak smell of nothing that smells good. Dark color is differnet and intriguing. The flavor is weak sauce. It tastes like a bad IPA. It has a taste that is a level of mild and unperticular that borders on water beer. It leaves a bad taste on the middle of my tounge. I like some of Carlsberg’s stuff, but this is an average beer.
