Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pour is a yellowish color with just a touch of a head and an aroma that reminds me of a highly alcohol filled version of Heineken. Skunky hops and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is not good. Alcohol is poorly hidden and comes off as paint thinner and hops skunk flavor comes through strong and bits a bit. Additionally, there is a nasty sweetness that is like corn syrup in the mix. Blech!

Aah, the beer of choice for many danish drunks roaming the streets! Had many Elephants in my life - just to sympathize. Pretty much just a fortified pale lager - warm, alcoholic, malty. I like it. I know this isn’t comme il faut, but if you want to get in the mood walking to a metal-concert, a couple of cans of this stuff gets the friggin job done

As a homebrewer and aficianado of alcoholic, malty, hoppy brews, I really like this beer. Good mouth-feel. Nice color. Big bubbles in the carbonation and head retention could be better, but in all honesty really good head is hard to find. A nice brew for those who like strong beer.

Can. Pours a nice honey golden with dissipating head. Malty aroma, malty taste, quite nice body, some rather pungent alcohol. Sweet corn finish.

bottle. smelled like apples and something rotten. Rotten apples perhaps? hmm? pale yallow and a nice white head. I didn’t notice any real carbonation. tasted like Malt and rubbing alcohol. I’m one who loves malty beer but there wasn’t enough there to balance out the rubbing alcohol taste which was just nasty. Did not go down smooth at all. Glad I tried it but can honestly say I don’t want any more. EVER!

bottle. why anyone would volunteer to ever drink more than one of these is beyond my capacity for reasoning. it pours alright, a pale golden color with a one inch white head. it doesn’t even smell too bad, like apple cider and alcohol. but when you take the first sip it becomes obvious that this beer’s only purpose is to get people drunk. it tastes like rotting apples and raw, unadulterated alcohol. I could not even get halfway through my glass. what a waste of time and money.
